What temp do you keep your house at night?

This will be our first winter with a baby. We usually let it get pretty cold at night (61) and then go back up to 69 in the evenings. It's probably never either of these temps because we live in a fairly drafty house. It's never been a problem because we just snuggle up under our down comforter, and truthfully I love it cold at night....do I need to crank up the heat at night with LO in the house? What do you set your temp at during the night?

  • We used to do that too and I love it at night....and loved the heating bill so much more. Now with two kids we keep it around 68 at night - DD who's 2 sleeps in her crib, but always kicks covers off, and with the newborn we like to keep it warmer. Sucks though. I wake up hot a lot!

  • We keep it around 66.  I bought a Grobegg from BRU and that has helped tremendously.  It is supposed to let you know what the ideal sleeping temp is for babies to reduce the risk of SIDS...if it gets too hot the egg glows orange or red and gives you a frown face, if its perfect its yellow and smiley...it also works well as a night light (oh and if its too cold it will glow blue).
  • We keep the temp at 62 overnight and at 68 during the day. We use the Halo blanket sleeper for the baby and have never had any issues with baby getting too cool.

  • Hubby and I just had an argument about this as he wants the house at 74 all the time.  Ugh!  I hate it!  The experts actually suggest 66 to reduce the risks of SIDS and to place a cap on an infants head if needed.
  • The ideal temp is 68-72 degrees.  Obviously there can be a variance in what it's set at verses what it feels like if you have a drafty house or different rooms are warmer then others.  Our house is set at 69 and my LO sleeps in a onsie, footed sleeper, and cotton Halo sleepsack.  and he has a small fan going to circulate the air and provide white noise.
