Jake's been wearing a size 3 for months now and has started leaking during the day (he's also wearing a size 4 at night which has leaked the last 3 nights). I decided to move him up to size 4 during the day and I'm not sure if I should do a size 5 at night or use night time diapers in a size 4. Any thoughts? Also...Jake isn't anywhere near the weight limit for a size 3 diaper...is this weird that he's leaking so much?? Thanks!
(FWIW, I bought night time diapers today since I wasn't sure if it was better to have them or a size 5)
Re: Question re: Switching diaper sizes
My vote is always to try the next size up. If they don't work you do one load of laundry and put them in the closet. They'll fit eventually so it's not like you'll waste them.
As for the overnight issues - try the larger size diaper first. They're cheaper than the overnights.
Sometimes you can tell when you put them on that they're going to be a huge fail (gaping at legs, can't get waist tight enough, etc).
And as for weights listed on diapers - IGNORE it.
One 15 lb baby can have the biggest bum or belly you've ever seen and the other can be a butt-less stick.
Shape of the tushy area has way more to do with how a diaper's gonna fit and work than an arbitrary weight will.

I have never gone by the weights on the box. They are just flat wrong for us. I would try a size 4 during the day, and a size 4 overnight at night.
But in a few weeks/maybe months, you will probably need to do the size 5 at night. That is the only way we don't leak.
I've never gone by the weight on the box. We move K up a size when it seems like the current size isn't cutting it anymore. She's been in size 4 for a few months already, which always seems weird to me because she's a real peanut for her age, but those are what fit her best.
I'd try the larger size for overnight. I've had K in the next size up for overnight and it seems to work well.
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
ditto this..DD is in 5 or 6 (oops mommy brain) and she is nowhere near the weight listed!)
