I really need to start tracking awake/sleep periods so I can try to get us on a schedule.
Today, we really slept in and didn't get up till 11. We were up for about an hour at 6am-7am, ate, changed, reswaddled and back to sleep till 11. She just fell back to sleep so she was awake for 3 hours. She fell asleep pretty much this same time yesterday from 1:30-5. Then she was awake for 4 hours before bed last night.
So, she is awake for about 3-4 hours at a time and sleeping about 3-5 hours at a time.
What about your baby??

Re: how long is your 6 week old awake for at a time
DD isn't 6 weeks yet, but she's pretty much put herself on a schedule.
Up (not by choice) around 6 am. Everyone in the house is getting ready for the day, so it's loud. Awake from then till about 10:00. She should've had a feeding and diaper change during that stretch. From 10-12 (sometimes 11) she's asleep. Then awake to eat around 12:30 then back down for another hour or so. She's usually awake when everyone gets home. (4:30ish 8:00). Fussy time around 5:30/6 till about 8 or 9:00.
If we've been running errands, she doesn't sleep as well and is a lot more cranky in the evening.
This. Although the past week he was up for long stretches (I think that was a growth spurt though since today he's only had stretches of 20 minute awake times in between eating and sleeping)
She sleeps 1 1/2 -2 1/2 hrs at a time generally. Her wake time varies somewhere between 30 min and 2 hrs on average. She's been up for 3 hrs a handful of times.
Feeding schedule goes 6 or 7 am, 10, 1-130, 400, 730,930,1100, 3am.
Sometimes there is an extra feeding in there somewhere
This. I would like to keep him up a little more to try to help him fall asleep at night, but so far, this has not really worked.
whoa that seems like a crazy schedule to me,
my boys are awake for an hour to an hour and a half and then sleep for 2.5 usually.
past 7pm though we like to keep them awake til about 1030-11pm & they sleep til 5am
