my brother just lights my fire sometimes---this is going to be a total rant but I need to get it out somewhere. So my brother used to be a big partier, was so much fun, etc. As a result of his lifestyle he gained a TON of weight...well his senior year of college I guess he grew up or something and got his act together and decided he wanted to be healthier well since then he has gone the extreme opposite direction. He's lost over 100lbs, has completed 3 Ironmans (which is 2.4 mile swim, then a 112 mile bike ride, then a full marathon 26.2 mile run), is now a triathalon trainer, super healthy, etc. I'm so proud of him but he's become such an as*hole in the process...he is so cocky, full of himself, and so rude about anyone who struggles w/ their weight...its like he cant remember that he used to be overweight once. I think his mentality is that if he can lose weight so can anyone and it just makes me want to scream!
I know that I could lose weight and I'm working on getting healthier but I also think my brother has a wayyyyyy easier time and forgets that-- yea I think I could probably lose weight a heck of a lot faster if I was in his shoes (i.e. he is a single guy, makes over $100k/year so he can afford gym membership, trainers, most expensive workout stuff, can buy only expensive organic fancy health foods and since hes single, not married, no kids has ALL the time in the world--literally will spend like 4+hours/day working out...how realistic is that?!)
I dunno I guess it just hurts b/c I am struggling w/ my weight but as most of you know its really hard as a mom to focus on yourself and do things that take time and effort for your own well being esp. when I feel like I am spending all my time at the dr. w/ nicholas, therapy appts, etc. and then I read fb status updates like this: to the lady across the isle from me on flight 522 from Little Rock to Dallas in row 7, when you can't sit in your seat on a plane with the arm rest down, isn't that a wakeup call to lose weight?
If only he could walk a day in my shoes...It just makes me wonder what he thinks when he looks at me...ugh family!
Vent over--thanks if you made it this far haha
Re: vent: insensitive family
Music is my total motivator these days.....(makes me smile and helps me jog a little further every time I get that "ME" time!)
Cause you're amazing
Just the way you are
And when you smile,
The whole world stops and stares for awhile
Cause girl you're amazing
Just the way you are
*PS- some day he'll get it. Keep your chin up
Pretty much this.
I couldn't have said it any better! It sounds like he really struggles with his own self-esteem issues and tries to take it out on other people.
You plagiarized my answer.
I agree - people who are so arrogant about one aspect of their lives are usually trying to cover up insecurities about their shortcomings in other aspects.
