I'm all for naturopathic remedies but this is nasty...

Iris has a horrid case of  cradle cap and I've been searching high and low for solutions to help her. I found the following advice on the web. I think I'll use it as a last resort.

My granddaughter has cradle cap and someone suggested that after changing a wet diaper that I rub the top of her head with the wet diaper allow her head to dry and then wash her hair in a hypoallergenic shampoo and rub it with a regular adult wash cloth. I tried it and it worked the cradle cap came right off.

  • Save a step (and some precious time waiting on her to tinkle).  Just dunk her head in the toilet and give her a swirly.

    Ha!

  • This totally reminds me of that episode of Friends where Monica gets stung by the jellyfish and Chandler has to pee on her because Joey gets stage fright. Apparently, golden showers have magical powers.

    I loved that episode!

Every time I visit the ocean I make sure I have a little extra in the ol' tank for this very reason. True story. Party!!!

  • ICK!

That being said, Brandon's was pretty bad...  this seemed to help...

  • This thread is hysterical. :D
  • That's disgusting!  I've heard rubbing breastmilk on it helps....but I've never tried it.

  • We were told to put baby oil on it and let it sit on there for 10 minutes.  Then use a comb and get as much off as possible.  Then wash her head to get the oil all off.  It worked really well.

Her dermatologist has also told us to use Head & Shoulders.

Yes  Everything in life can be related to a Friends episode.

  • We were told by the pedi we could use head and shoulders.  I found the best way to get it out was to rub some oil on it (olive oil, baby oil, whatever you have as long as it's not motor oil) and comb it out with a fine toothed comb.

It took K's cradle cap a long time to go away.

  • We were told to use Selsun Blue by our pedi once a week. The original kind. And to not rinse it in the bathwater, to do it separately in the sink before the bath.
