So you can see where this is going...
Jonathan gets hurt sooo much. I know its because with JLK I was able to be fully focused on her whenever she was up...Now for Jonathan its just not the case.
Today I was going to the bathroom and he followed me in and fell and cracked his mouth on the stool (thats for JLK to wash her hands) something we wouldnt even have had out when she was his age.
The other day he pulled a frying pan out and dropped it directly in his toe
I feel so badly and am hoping I am not alone in number 2 (or more) getting hurt more often.
Also I was wearing a white sweatshirt...now covered in blood...I am soaking it in cold water...any other tips?
Re: 2nd child hurt more? and blood out of clothes?
I'm sorry Libs! I think it depends on the second kid. My oldest nephew is way more dare devil than his mild mannered younger bro and younger bro wasn't injured as often I think because he didn't take as many chances.
Another nephew doesn't live close so we didn't see him that often at that age but his younger bro is cray cray with a capital C and climbs like a monkey. I'd guess that he is injured more and gets into more precarious positions.
Another set of sibs has an older daughter and younger bro C's age and that kid is constantly covered in black eyes, bruises, etc. Part of it is him as he's super daredevil too, part is that his parents aren't on him all the time like there were with his sister (which was super impressive), and part is that he is surrounded by kids with more ability than he has and he doesn't get it nor do they. The older cousins and sibs were just not careful around him before he could hold his own and it showed in bruises, split lips, cuts, etc.
C being the only child mostly escaped it because I'm on him 90% of the time and thankfully up until last week he was not that adventurous. Damn you independent teaching preschool!
Hydrogen Peroxide will get the blood out. Just pour it on the spot, let it bubble and fizz. Pour as needed to get the blood out. We get a lot of bloody noses in our household (not just the kids) and this has cleaned it off many an item.
And yes, DC#2 is hurt more often. If it isn't us not being able to keep an eye out on both kids, it's his sister pushing him out of the way when she wants something, he's leaning on her or touching her, or needs to get by. (This was especially bad when he was just learning to walk.)
With my sister's kids, the 2nd was definitely hurt more often than the first. I think a lot of it had to do with his personality though. My niece was very mild-mannered, bookish, and princessy. My nephew could give Evel Knievel a run for his money.
I think too, you're right that there's just not a way for you to possibly be as attentive when there are two as you are when there is one. I hope he's feeling better now and that you can figure out how to get that blood out of your shirt!
Seriously windex? Like the window cleaner?

If I may make a generalization...I have noticed that boys & men, don't think...they just do (as far as everyday activities). Girls think...if I do that I might get hurt, or last time I did that I got hurt.
Boys just do it. They run, they climb, they just don't care...if it looks fun they are going to try it. If they get hurt they just try it again without giving time for wounds to heal. We get hurt we are like, "time out, take a break, not trying that again."
G has cut his lips &/or gums 6+ times in the last 18 months. I swear his head is solider than a rock, he use to think it was a bulldozer or something. I guess you just learn to keep the first aid stocked and the doctors on speed dial.
Aaron doesn't get hurt very often, although he cries foul on a pretty regular basis. He's not a rough and tumble kid like Ryan was (which is a bit confusing, since he's much more athletically inclined than Ryan).
For blood - blot it with cold water and a cloth underneath, then use a little dish soap in a cup of hydrogen peroxide and scrub at it, blot again with cold water and cloth underneath, then wash in cold, line dry (if you toss it in the dryer and you didn't get it all out the first time, it will set the stain).

Yep, I swear by it! I get lots of bloody noses in my sleep and it's saved many a pillow case.
Ditto this a 100%!!
