I officially beat the internal system!!

Ladies, my EDD is TOMORROW!  I had an appt. today and got out of yet another internal, yayayyyyyyy!!  If LO is not here by Monday, she said she would do an U/S!  I was really dreading the internal and I'm so glad that I don't have to do it.  My understanding is that it gives you a bunch of useless information, and LO is going to come when he's good and ready anyway, so what's the point of being uncomfortable/bloody/crampy.

    Haha, yay!  And happy due date tomorrow.  I didn't get any internals with my first until I had been in labour for about 12 hours, and only because I asked for one.  You're right that your LO will come when he's ready!  GL!

    you know you have the right to decline internals, right?  I have not gotten one and will continue to decline them until I hit 40 weeks (next week).  They are useless information...the baby will come when he/she is due and ready! You can be 0 cm and deliver later that day or be 3-4 cm for weeks.

    I never really thought about the fact that I could decline, durrrrrr!!  I just thought I was being sneaky... besides it's more fun that way, hahahaaa!

    lol, true dat' but, I must admit, I love useless information.  I like to analyze it, realize it, bump about it, and analyze it again.  =)

    I'm a control freak and like weekly updates so I've never declined an internal.  On the other hand, I've never had an ounce of discomfort or bleeding, so that likley influences my decision.

    I think my OB scared the shiit out of me by telling me how uncomfortable I would be afterwards, so I dreaded it enough to avoid it this whole time.

    I think it is good that you feel like you can speak up.  If you don't want an internal - don't have one :).

    That being said, I have had two internals already (and had them obviously when I was in labor with my DD) and never had a single ounce of discomfort.  And I have a "very small pelvis" according to my doctors.  No blood, no hurting afterward...  Maybe I have a gentle doctor?

    But yea, the info is worthless.  I was 3-4cm/70% last week and am 4cm/80% this week.  The ONLY info I have gathered from that is that I will haul buns to the hospital if my water breaks or I start having regular contractions.  Being this is my second baby and I am this far progressed and I live 26 miles away from the hospital I am not going to risk it.  No long showers or laboring on my own.  I would prefer not to give birth in my car :).
