New regulations on carseats?
My pedi told me this Tuesday and I had not previously heard anything so forgive me if this is old news, but has anyone else heard that they say the child has to be 20lbs AND one year old before moving to forward facing convertible seats? And they're about to come out with the regulation that a child must stay rear-facing until TWO years of age?
I had read on the 3-6 board that some moms of heavier babies had already moved them to convertible seats. Are there convertibles that are rear-facing? I have zero experience with convertible seats so I assumed they are all forward facing.

Yes, that rule is old. But that's OK. Gotta learn sometime. 20 lbs. AND 1 year old. I just turned my daughter forward about a month after she turned 2, and that's only cause her legs were getting squished.
As for convertible car seats, my 2yo's is convertible and it goes both ways.

Convertible car seats are rear facing and front facing. It's best to keep them rear facing as long as possible. I had heard there was thought of up to 2 years. My pedi told me up to 30 lbs (my 6 month old is almost 22lbs)

All convertibles are rear-facing. . . that is they "convert" from rear to forward facing.
My kids both outgrew the weight limits on the bucket early, so they moved to rear-facing convertibles.
My DD stayed rear facing until she was almost 2 and she's a big kid. Hopefully I'll make it that long with DS as well.

This, our Pedi mentions it at every appt - he tells us 2 yrs if possible. GL!
