3rd Trimester

X/P Blood Pressure still high :(

BP last week was 140/68.  Today it was 150/64 so not much of a change.  My urine and blood work came back totally normal.

Doc pulled me out another week and will decide next week if I am going back or not.  I asked him if my BP stays the same if he will let me go back to work and said probably yes, but wants to see what another week will bring.

I am somewhat OK with another week off, but I don't want to do this for 11 more weeks!!
So now I am on disability this week.

  • I did the 24 hour urine thing last weekend.  It came back normal.  Did you get to go back to work?

Ugh me neither.  I am not on bed rest right now.  Basically I just have to take it easy.  Relax, don't do too much around the house etc.

  • Your bottom number seems ok.

The top number is usually stress/activity related.

Did you have BP issues or pre-e with your dd?

I hope it all stays well for you and you get released from bedrest! Do you take your BP at home?

Mine is always high at the doctor, but 115/65 at home, so we are not worried yet.  I had severe pre-e with ds.

  • Are you monitoring your BP at home? If not, that's prob. good to try, because what one of the posters above said is true--your upper number indicates stress more, and you've got a good bottom number. Esp. since your urine and blood are normal, I'd guess you've got good home readings. Maybe just white coat syndrome. My BP has read slightly high at some appts, but since I can show what it reads the rest of the time (and thus "normally," when I'm not stressing about what it will be) my midwife ran the tests to be sure, and with good results back, is content to just tell me to slow down a bit (i.e. act like a pregnant woman). Also, taking your BP at home will help you control it, since it would tell you when you need to stop what you're doing, put your feet up at rest (as opposed to necessarily trying to do that all the time).

I did not have any BP issues with DD which is sorta strange but not really.  I have been doing a lot around the house and not relaxing at all (usually crawl into bed at 9pm)

I never thought to take my BP at home.  Silly question, but how would I do that?
