The name Nicole

I like it, but really hate the nickname Nic and am not particularly fond of Nikki either. If I were to name a DD Nicole, would she probably be referred to as Nic by the time she hit junior high?

 

Similar thoughts on Natalie actually... my only friend with that name growing up was and is often called Nat. Yech.

    2 of my best friends names are Nicole. We have always called them Nicole. never any nickname. I think as long as you are calling her by her name most people will follow.

    my friends just named their DD Nicole, but her nickname will be Cole instead.

    my best friends name is Nicole and has never gone by Nic or Nikki. I don't ever remember anyone ever calling her that. Now once and awhile she gets a "cole" but her nephew started that when he couldn't say her whole name.

    I have always been Melissa, no nn. I think most people will follow the parents lead unless of course she wants to be called a nn

    Well, if you call her Nicole then others will follow.  I agree with pp that Cole is a great NN.

    If you and she want to use the name "nicole" and not nic - then that is what she'll get called... you might have to correct people a lot- but that goes with any type of nicname.

    I have a friend Nicole that I always call Nicole... but i have another one that always went by Nikki- but she liked that.

    if it's going to make you angry when people say Nic or nikki- then i'd pick a different name.

    I know a few Nicoles who go by Cole or Coley, which I think is cute. You can just call her Nicole, though. People shorten names as a term of endearment and then the NN usually just sticks. But, if you never call her Nic or Nikki, others probably won't. Or at least not all the time.

    I've known several girls named Nicole who were called Nicole and only one who was called Nikki.

    My name is Nicole and throughout school, etc., I was always called Nicole. ?The only person who ever called me Niki were my mom and dad.

    I just met a couple a week ago whose daughter's name was Nicole, but they called her Cole. I thought it was adorable. My DH really likes the Nicole, but I nixed it because I hate the nn Nikki, and Nic.

    My name is Nichole and I always tell people I only go by Nichole. No Nic, no Nicki, none of that. People have always called me Nichole.
