Babies: 9 - 12 Months

LO ate her diaper.

Ugh!  I was on the phone with Pamper's poison control this morning.  I went in to my DD's room after she woke up and there were these jelly balls of God knows what all through her crib.  I picked her up and started inspecting her from head to toe and here it was from the side of her diaper!  We use the Pamper's Dry Max on her at night time for extra absorbency, ever since she started STTN.  Well, she must have picked apart her diaper because when I went in she was playing with it and her pj's were all discombobulated.  And I noticed a rip on the side of the diaper where all these little balls of gelatinous, piss ridden foam was coming from and the worst part is that she had them all through her hair, face and LIPS!  So needless to say I was freaking out a little!  I can't believe those diapers would do that.  She was only in it overnight like usual!  I hope this isn't the beginning of some diaper phase where I'm going to be scrubbing poop off of stuff.  But thankfully, DD is okay!

  • OMG! I've seen pics of the chemical burns on babies from the dry max diapers and that makes me scared for your LO. I am glad she is ok. What did poison control say to do if she ingested it?
  • While I havent had the experience of a diaper explosion, I did walk in to see DD eating poop one day while she was having some naked airing out a diaper-rashed butt. So I kinda know the panic you went through!

  • Oh no! That is something DS would totally do. I am glad she's ok! I cant believe Pampers has a poison control. I guess your girl isnt the first to eat her diaper!

  • I'd switch to cloth. You can't be poisoned by a cloth diaper.

This! I cant believe they have need for their own poison control.

    Glad she's a-ok though!

  • Thanks!  The lady on the phone told me that the material that she could have ingested is broken down naturally in the body and is mainly just paper and a chemical they use in food packaging.  BUT  thank God for no choking!  Or how another PP said about the burns to another childs skin.  We've never had any issues like that using these diapers and we've used them for months now.  So, I don't think LO would have a reaction like that, but I'm still worried.  Cloth diapers do sound a lot more appealing!!!
