So DH and I have just recovered from a horrible stomach bug. DD was a little puny over the weekend, more spit up than normal and one big, nasty blow out. But not fussy at all. (Even the pedi says our baby is the most easy going baby ever. Didn't even cry when he gagged her with the tongue depressor. Hardly cries at shots, etc). She woke up a couple of times with puffy eyes. So I figured wth, took her into the pedi (it's only a $20 copay), and he couldn't find anything wrong with her. He asks if she'd ever been sick (she's 4.5 months) and DH says "once. She had a cold and gave it to me!" and the pedi just laughed and looked at us and said "You're going to be sicker in the next couple of years than you have been since you were this age." UGH, not what I wanted to hear! The next day is when we both woke up with a horrible stomach virus. DH's was 24 hrs, mine was almost 48. Thank goodness DD didn't have it too bad! I will attribute that to my BM, even if it's not true. It will make all of that pumping seem worthwhile.
Anyone with older kids have this experience of having more illness than normal with a new baby?
Re: Baby will build MY immune system!!
Good to know...this is the first I've heard of it. I really feel like a putz for missing so much work...between sleep deprivation, baby being sick, me being sick. I rarely missed before DD, so I'm feeling some guilt about missing so much now. But I guess if it can't be helped, then so be it!
I didn't have any experiences like this. I was pretty much on par w/ previous years.
