Team Green-ers...come in!

Hi!  What outfit are you planning on taking LO home in?  Did you buy both a boy and a girl outfit, or are you just doing something gender neutral?

I was going to buy a boy and a girl outfit and then return the one that didn't get used until I realized the outfits would have to be washed and the tags cut off, duh.  But I don't want to waste money on the unused outfit!  Am I totally overthinking this? Smile

Re: Team Green-ers...come in!

  • I was thinking about doing the boy/girl outfit but in the end I'm too lazy.  I have a really cute fuzzy white snowsuit with ears that I'm going to use instead.

  • I got a little pair of pajamas at Carters, white with small Christmas decorations embroidered on it, I want to also get a simple plain red beanie.
  • I think I will do both.....a girl and boy outfit. If I were due closer to xmas I would do the Christmas outfit (it's a cute idea).
  • Mine is just yellow and white. It's cute, from the Carter's outlet, with little duckies on the feet.

I have all gender neutral clothing for those early weeks. We'll go shopping when I'm ready to leave the house for gender specific things.

I have a few gender neutral onesies that I grabbed at consignment stores. They are SO freaking tiny - yet so large against my belly Smile One is green/white/brown striped, one is white w/colorful stars, and another is beige striped w/lions on the front. I'll just pack all of them and whichever fits, fits.

I got some at our consignment store too! It was so funny to see my dog's interest in the outfits when I showed them to her. Nothing has fazed her at all until these onesies arrived and she just sniffed and sniffed and sniffed them then laid down next to them. It was so cute.

  • We're doing just one outfit... I was considering doing a boy outfit or a girl outfit but decided not to.

I have a one-piece sweater outfit (I've posted it here a few times) from Target that we plan to use... but in case it's too big/too long I'm also bringing a neutral Carter's set we got (comes with a long-sleeve top, a short-sleeve top, and footed pants).

  • I still don't know...I'm totally on the fence.  I need to get on it though!
  • I knew that my first baby was going to be a girl, so she had a girly purple outfit for her pictures at the hospital and to come home in.  So, I wanted my second baby to have an outfit that you could tell was a boy or a girl in the pictures.  It sounds stupid, but that was my reasoning for buying two outfits.  I have a large family, so if I don't end up using the boy outfit or the girl outfit I'm sure someone else will be able to use it down the road.

  • We bought a cream colored snow suit with ears too but we are going to buy pink and blue onsies to wear in the snow suit.  DH also bought pink and blue toques too.  Oh and we also have pink and blue blankets for the car seat.  This is our first and we are sure to have another...maybe next babe we'll use the blue stuff!

But really, how expensive is a onsie/hat/blanket going to cost...cost us maybe $25 for the 3 items.

  • I bought one pair of white fleece pants and a white onesie but then bought each a gender specific sweater. One is a pink hoodie with little ears and the other is blue striped hoodie with ears and matching hats. I figure we'll either just save the other for another baby or give it to charity if we don't use it. I've been given so many used boys and girls clothes that I don't mind storing some in case we have the other gender next time.
  • My Grandmother got me a cute gender neutral outfit that is adorable.  It says hello world on it.  I am just going to use that.

Haha that's actually really cute. And very appropriate. :)

  • We bought a boy and a girl outfit. We have had so much gender neutral with the nursery etc. I want to say here is our little boy or girl so I am doing it with the clothes right from the start.

  • Last time around, DH went out and bought a gender specific outfit when visitors came to the hospital, since I had people around to help out if I needed it.  It was sweet, he bought a pink dress, leggings, matching shoes (that were HUGE on her), and even a stuffed animal that matched, he was just so excited to have a little girl.  It was really neat for me to see what he picked too.

We're planning on doing the same this time around, but he might take our DD to help pick out an outfit for her new baby brother or sister.

  • I have a neutral outfit to bring the baby home in.  It's a white long sleeve henley and long pants to match with a hat also.  My mom said she was going to stop by the mall after I deliver to buy a boy/girl outfit.  I told her I think that's ridiculous!

  • We were thinking about getting a boy/girl outfit, but in the end decided not to waste the money. Instead, I got a very cute white and yellow outfit at my shower, and it has little duck prints and duck feet on it. Very cute!

  • We'll do neutral. And we still don't have any clothes for the baby yet, so this is all a premature thought for now!
