ON maternity q

I just got in my order of Old Navy maternity clothes and they all are too big. I bought a pair of khaki's and a pair of leggings that literally fall off my waist. They appear to only be able to work if I have a large baby belly.  I ordered my normal size (M).

Did anyone else have this problem?  I got them for such a steal I hate to send them back, but at the same time I don't want to buy pants that will maybe fit me for like March/April of next year.  Is it reasonable to expect that my maternity pants will fit me from now until the end?

Re: ON maternity q

  • I don't know about their pants, but I know all the ON maternity tops I ordered were huge.  I ordered all smalls and it's gonna be a while until I grow into them.  I'm interested to hear other people's feedback on the pants there.

  • I had the same problem with ON. I returned a lot of stuff. Actually, the too big shirts I felt I'd grow into, but the pants. . . not so much.

All my mat jeans are fitting me now. I buy at Motherhood and Macy's. They def should not fall off. They could be big, but shouldn't fall off.

  • I tried on some jeans and cords in the store last night and found the pants had a wide variety of sizing.  Most of the ones I tried on were definitely too big but one pair fit fine and the cords weren't too bad.  I guess it's just going to be hit or miss.  I'm with you - I don't really want to buy pants yet that are going to be big for the next couple of months.

  • To be honest, I dont think there is one pregnant woman out there that doesnt have clothes that are too big for her while being prego. I have a few things that are too big for me now, I dont wear them out. Home yes, my hubby doesnt mind that my butt doesnt fill out my pants (YET) But, I like to be comfortable and know that I have room to grow. I wouldnt send them back if you got a good deal on them. Whats the point? ON is strange like that though, I have always had problems with their pants. And, BTW, the pants that right now are too big, they are from ON.  Dont stress. I found a lot of my maternity clothes on craigslist and got a lot of great stuff for more than half the price of what I spent at the mall. Making sure they are gently used, no holes and stuff, from a non-smoking home and no pets is important to me. Women out there are dying to get rid of their maternity clothes....It's worth a look!

  • I ended up in a size smaller than my normal size, but then I've lost some weight. They are still a little big on me. I figure I'll grow into it.
  • Their sizes definitely run big! I bought some old navy leggings in small and they are a little baggy in the booty!  With DS, I ordered all tops in XS.  I want to order some of the Denim Leggings but so worried about what size!

  • I like that the shirts run large. I got leggings and they run large. I had read that  in some of the comments, but being bigger. I didn't care. And I am at a point where wearing anything on my stomach (elastic, or waist bands) is hurting. So I use the extra to roll down.

  • Ok, thanks for the feedback!

I think these are tooo big. I'm going to see if I can exchange them without paying additional (shouldn't be a problem). I figure one size lower I'll be able to wear them for most of the pregnancy which is my goal. I don't care if I'm in sweats and dresses for April!

  • Yep, my shirts I ordered are way too big. I'm going to try them on the way I'm actually going to wear them (as opposed to in PJ pants). They're dressy tops so I think dressing them up may help and I'll decide if they're worth growing into later. If not, I'm mailing them back.

this- I am a size smaller in maternity than I am in their regular clothes

  • ON runs big in general, for me anyway. I ordered shirt from there and just got them and they were fine but I ordered XS. DH thought I was crazy but I ordered a shirt from there with DD and it was a small and HUGE, I never wore it throughout my entire pregnancy. Any maternity pants I had with DD fit my from start to finish, but I will say they were a little baggier in my legs in the beginning and then once my thighs got bigger it filled out better but if they are way too big in your lower belly it might be hard to keep them up later. H&M has AWESOME maternity jeans and I saw leggings there too but those looked kind of big.

  • I need to have my pants from Old Navy hemmed because they were too long. My pants from Motherhood Maternity I got dress pants in a petite and jeans in a regular and that was fine. I'm 5'1 1/2".

In the Old Navy tops, I feel comfortable wearing a Small in the maternity tops. I used to wear a Small Petite in regular Old Navy stuff, but they don't have Petites in maternity clothes.

I've LOVED my Old Navy maternity yoga pants, by the way.

  • Just want to remind you guys that you will certainly be getting bigger .. I pulled out my maternity stuff from DS and it's all too big right now, too. The pants are baggy in the butt and thighs .. but they all fit with DS around 25 weeks and I started off 20 lbs bigger with him than this one. I wore ON Small Long with him and at the end things kinda got tight. It's up to you but if they were that good of a deal I might hold on to them?? You have time to grow.
  • ON is just hit or miss in sizing in general so I needed to try everything on, but when I did find the right size I am really happy with my selections so far. Especially the jeans. They are great!

Maternity cords and skinny jeans I bought in my normal size. Another cut of their jeans I had to buy one size smaller. And in a dress I needed to buy 2 sizes smaller becuase they were cut way too generously.

  • I read the reviews before ordering and everyone said the maternity clothes run big. I made sure to look at the size chart when I ordered and going by those i ordered a size smaller then I normally would. There were only a couple of tops that were too big but I am saving them because I may fit into them later on.
