My Mom has called every hour for the past two days asking if I'm having contractions, if baby is moving, est. I had DS at 35 weeks, so she seems to think that I'm overdue to have this one. She is making me INSANE!
do what i do. don't answer the phone. she'll get over it.
If I don't answer the phone she calls it over and over and over, then starts in on DH's phone, then I'm sure she'd call the hospital. She always imaines the worst... if I don't answer she's becomes convinced I'm about to die or something. She's a nut job. Part of her phyco'ness is because she's blind, so I imagne she sorta gets stuck in her own head. At 7am I told her if she keeps calling, I'm changing my phone number and turning DH's phone off. It didn't stop her. She's been like this my whole life, but me being pregnant has super-charged it all. Sucks.
I agree, don't answer the phone for about 2 days (DH either) and then take it and say, "Oh I had the baby and we're home now..." Moms can be nuts...our moms that is, not us, no way!

No, no, not us of course, we'll never be nuts. ;-)
my mom is the same way. when i went to college she would call me several times a day to "make sure you aren't in a ditch somewhere." It got worse from there, and when I got pregnant, she went crazy with the calls! everyone told me that I had to nip this in the bud NOW because once the baby's here she would drive me BSC. I just started not answering the phone every time she called, and i told her i wouldn't be answering every time.
i know it's hard, but you really have to put your foot down just for the sake of your sanity. i'm a much happier person and the conversations that i have with my mom now are a much better quality because i actually want to talk to her.
It's not just my mom anymore, family friends, my sister, grandmother, the woman that works at the gas station down the road. Anyone that has my number. Guaranteed at least five calls a day. I went all day yesterday with out charging my phone for some peace and had all kinds of voicemails and text. Trust me people I will not for get to inform you!
My mom drives me crazy with calls all the time. With DD, she was on top of my doctros appointments.. she would call me as soon as I got out, sometimes while I was still in the appointment, just to make sure everything when ok. She would then ask me how everything went... my response "Mom, I pissed in a cup, the took my BP, took my weight, listened to heart beat.. and sent me home.. same as it is every week" She still didnt get it. This time around.. I told her I wasnt even telling her when my doctors appointments were.
My mom drives me BSC all.the.time. If I dont answer.. she will call over and over again.. and sometimes it is just to ask a simple question... I dont know how to get her to stop.. I've tried not answereing the phone... but then I end up with 35 million missed phone calls and that many VM's... each one her voice getting more and more panicked.

We are in the same exact situation! I think our Moms need more hobbies or something to take their minds off us.
I definitely do not recommend screening calls or letting the phone ring...lesson learned for me. If you don't answer, they will either come over or leave a message like the one I got today.
"You're not answering so you must be on your way to the hospital!"
This was followed by a call to my cell phone from my sister.
Sis: Mom thinks you're in labour.
Me: No, I was on the crapper.
Sis: That's exactly where I told her you'd be!
I guess technically now I should be SecondBabyMomma
Re: I'm going to change my phone number... (Mom Vent)
I tried this today and then got a message that my parents were coming over to check on me. You can't win!!!
