Babies: 6 - 9 Months

cold hands and feet

I am waiting for the pedi office to reopen at two (it is lunch time) but in the meantime I was wondering if anyone else?s baby often has cold hands and feet that sometimes turn blue.  I know that this can be normal when they are really little due to immature circulation but I was wondering when this is no longer considered normal.  Today her feet were even cold in her sleeper.  She does not keep socks on and  I have not been successful in finding footed pants, so I am at a lost as to what to do to keep them warm.  My house is not cold right now the temp is around 70  TIA

Re: cold hands and feet

  • Yes! DDs hands and feet are always cold and mottled looking and yes, sometimes bluish. I am taking her to the pedi tomorrow for something else and was going to mention it. If you find anything out, post it here or pm me cuz I am curious.

  • The doctor said not to worry that it is normal unless they are blue all the time and if the hands and feet are warm to the touch, yet still blue.  She said to keep an eye on it, but what I described is normal.   My LO also has the mottling you described and I mentioned that too when asking.  She suggested putting the leather bootees on her over socks if her feet her really cold and the socks won't stay on.  She said I could bring her in for a sick visit if I wanted but that she did not think it was needed.
