Just saw on facebook where my aunt told my cousin that having a girl means you have more morning sickness than if you have a boy She is dead serious too...
Oh and I should mention she has 3 girls...so she would TOTALLY know right??
My morning sickness was worse this time than when I was pg with ds, I had several people tell me that I meant I was having a girl. It was true for me, but still just an OWT.
My DH and I were convinced we were having a girl because my morning sickness was like a curse from hell. All of the other wives tales pointed to girl as well. Well...the anatomy scan said BOY and although I am going to ask the tech to reverify when I have my next u/s, I am going to assume she knows what she is talking about. So, just goes to show, everyones body just handles each PG different.
Yeah, everyone was telling me I was having a girl this time because my morning sickness was so much worse than what it was with DS. Wrong! It's another boy.
People are really, really stupid. I can't NOT laugh when I hear people matter-of-factly say that they *know* they're having a girl because of the heart rate.

Of course WE all know that's not true! I just couldn't believe someone would actually believe that and tell other people that.
Then again, I shouldn't be that surprised... my SIL is crushed now that the Chinese gender chart didn't work. Apparently it has NEVER been wrong before. She even tried tell me I must have concieved in the previous month because it doesn't make sense. (BTW, it would still be wrong.)

Oh my! I know that it's fun to try and predict boy/girl, but to be crushed that some chart was wrong is taking it a little far. I am amazed that some people really believe all the OWT's.
My m/s wasn't terrible and I am having a boy... but then, everyone told me that wanting salty foods in 1st tri meant a boy and sweets meant a girl... I didn't have any craving except for the occasional bit of chocolate cake! Also, that hot sauce would make the baby blind...

I love the people that "just know" everything. I haven't had hardly any sickness, in fact, Ive felt great (knock on wood) and I'm expecting a little girl.
Well, we're on our way to 3 kids, 3 and under. Set to welcome the craziness in April 2014!
Having a girl and didn't have a moment of m/s. Not even a gag during 1st tri or any other time. The women in my family never got m/s either. I don't think it has anything to do with what you're having. It has to do with how your body reacts (or doesn't react) to HCG.
I give up trying to get a ticker. I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome. Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself. Hmmm. How about...

At least there is some correlation to this one. Smaller fetus = higher heart rate. Girls tend to be smaller than boys through out pregnancy. However, still not a for sure data point.

I have more heart burn with my girls. And more nauseous in the morning. But my boy was also my first pregnancy, so I'm not sure that I'm not just adding to the list of symptoms with each pregnancy. I worked with a lady that has 4 kids slightly younger than me. No u/s to check for genders then. She swore every pregnancy that she was having a girl because each pregnancy was so different...and she had 4 boys. I don't think there really are set guidelines for any pregnancy.

I know right. Couldn't be because mama likes a cup of coffee in the AM before the u/s could it? LOL! And one of them was a freakin doctor- good thing she is pediatrician not an OB. My MIL swears she was sickest with DH not SIL. My mom says she was sickest with me, not my 3 brothers but she feels she got preggo in a different part of her cycle? The answer- check between the legs when baby is born. LOL! Even U/S have been wrong...
I was told the same thing with jalapenos....that they would "burn the baby's eyes out"....yeah, ok.
Had horrible M/S with both of these baby girls. Juliana let me have some relief at 13 weeks, but then came the food aversions. I also felt like crap my whole pregnancy. With this one, I am still taking Zofran (most likely b/c of my cyst) and I have no food aversions and feel much better.

OK, here's the crazy thing: some studies have actually shown that m/s is more prevalent with girl PGs than boy PGs. That said, it absolutely cannot be used as a predictor since some girl mom get none and some boy moms get tons. (I am a boy's mom and still have m/s every single day.)

I've heard this before too, dang girls sure get a bad rap! I'm having a boy and it's #1 so I have no comparison but I had hardly any ms. A friend said that she knew she was having a girl because with her previous pg's she never had ms and that time she did, and ended up having a girl.
I can't tell you how many times people have told me they "know" I"m having a girl because of this. There's really nothing like hearing "you're having a girl, because girls steal their mother's beauty". Um, thanks.
Oh yeah, and morning sickness is still kicking my butt.

DD#1 - no m/s whatsoever
DD#2 - nauseous for 2 months, but not terribly horrible.
I really find it funny that people actually believe OWTs.
