I am looking for lactation consultation services and came across Natural Beginnings in Garland. It is two women who offer breastfeeding, doula, and childbirth education services and it looks like both of them have been in the business for around 30+ years. Does anyone have any personal experience with either of them? I am likely going to make an appointment with Sharon Mattes for a breastfeeding consultation for some issues I'm having and thought I'd see if anyone can offer some insight on them. Thanks!
Re: Anyone use Natural Beginnings in Garland?
Yep - went to Linda's Bradley childbirth classes & Sharon's breastfeeding class.
Sharon was awesome - very informative & practical. The whole 10 min I had w/ the lactation consultant at Baylor the day after I delivered didn't cover nearly as much as Sharon did (friends told me to expect that though). I also attribute the 5 1/2 weeks of pain-free & drama-free breastfeeding I've had to her. A lot of the issues I see ppl on the boards get stressed about - bad latches, fear of low supply, etc. - Sharon had already prepared me for how to avoid and / or deal with them.
Both ladies are great - I'm sure Linda is just as good w/ consultations. I missed both BF sessions during her Bradley class & only Sharon does BF classes so I took hers.
I hope everything works out!
