    We haven't yet... We probably wont change it until he is 2.

    I'm hoping to keep Gav RF until he outgrows the RF limits on his car seat (I have a feeling that might happen before he gets to 2).

    I noticed last week that my 8 month old nephew is FF already.  He currently weighs less than G so I know it isn't a size thing either...

    We haven't.  I'm holding off as long as possible despite my mother's protests.  She thinks Caroline will enjoy riding in the car so much more if she's FF.

    Most of you know that DH is a PO and a division of his unit isto teach families in Detroit car seat safety.  They are now recommending that LOs stay RF until 18-20 months.

    I am also getting comments from my family how fun he will have FF.  But I will keep him RF until like PP said until he out grows his current car seat.  Why take a chance with your child's safety?

    This! Even if we had planned on doing it earlier Alexa only weighs 18 lbs. Rear facing is so much safer!

    Eek! There is no reason to FF before 1 year and 20 lbs. Do you think they know that? I am hoping to RF until she reaches the weight limit in her seat, which is 40 lbs.

    That's pretty much exactly what I said to DH when I saw it.  I actually do think it's illegal here.

    A friend of mine is a pediatrician and she said that currently she's recommending 1 year (current AAP recs at the time I talked to her) but she had the impression that the AAP was going to shift to 2 years old before making the car seat FF.  So I'd check with the ped and use that as the minimum.  I can't see going longer than 2 years unless there's some really strong evidence (or a law) that's out there when DS is 2.

    Honestly I wouldn't risk DS if he was 8 months in a FF seat.  Not worth the ticket if you get pulled over nor is it worth the visit from child protective services.  (not sure if that second part would happen or not or if it's just my impression of what happens in this state)
