Wearing your own nightgown while in labor?

I am on the smaller side and nothing is more uncomfortable to me than wearing rediculously oversized hospital gowns. I am going to be uncomfortable enough as it is and will be irritated if they had me an XL gown.

What do you think about wearing your own nightgown to labor in ( knowing it will most likely be ruined)?

    I'm undecided right now.  Most likely, I will wear the hospital gown until I can shower after recovery and then put on my own.

    Well, two thoughts came to mind.

    1. You're in friggin labor so you should make yourself as comfortable as you can and if your own pjs are the way to go, then do it.

    2. You're in labor so you may end up caring less what you're wearing. Ruining your pjs may be a waste

    I will be wearing a hospital gown but I don't see why you can't bring your own nightgown.

    I'm wearing a gown, I don't want my stuff to get ruined.  I did pack my own nightgown for after though.

    You may be able to just labor in a sports bra of you think the gown will get in the way???

    I plan on wearing the gown then changing into my own pjs the next day.

    I'm probably in the minority but I wear the hospital gowns for my whole stay.  I don't think they are too uncomfortable, and would rather mess up their clothes then mine.

    At least this post is re: comfort rather than "style," but seriously, once you're in labor I really don't think you will care at ALL what you are wearing, and you might as well ruin the hospital stuff rather than your own. They usually have different size gowns as well...not a lot of choices, but they probably have one that won't be too huge.
