We bought a Dyson shortly after Eve was born and have loved it since the first day. We've only had a problem once (too much of my hair from the floor got tangled in the brush and it wouldn't turn). Dyson walked us through how to fix it and then sent us extra parts even though they weren't really needed. I was shocked at how easy it was to take things apart and clean them.
It was pricey, but so far has been worth every penny we spent!
I LOVE my Hoover Windtunnel. I've only had it for a couple months, but it works great on dog hair and is self-propelled. It also has a bag, which I wanted (bagless is gross IMO). It was only $150 on Amazon.
I don't vacuum...Dan does. So I let him pick out the vacuum. He wanted a canister vac (UGH!!!) and he likes it. We have a Kenmore Hepa. It works well, but now in hindsight he wishes we'd gotten an upright and a bagless....so I say go for upright bagless!
If I were to buy a new vacuum right now I'd get the Dyson Animal...we have pets and I with the amount of hair I lose we need that kid of vacuum.
I have a Dyson and a windtunnerl and I like the windtunnel better. Got it from costco for about $150. I originally bought it because it came with a 20' extension hose so I could easily do my stairs.
Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.
We bought a refurbished Dyson Animal a couple of years ago on amazon. It has been WONDERFUL! What a difference! Actually, it may not be the Animal model, but I think they are all great. The hose is so helpful. I use it everyday for picking up after meal-time. Bagless has been really easy for us, too. Also, we used to have a burnt smell after we would vaccuum with our old upright. Now, there is no smell.
