My dr recently gave me a prescription for lexapro due to my high level of anxiety. I have had the prescription for a month now and am very hesitant to take it. Anyone else been on this? Any side effects?
I was on it before we started TTC & was weaned off. Right after getting home from the hospital, I had a panic attack & continued to have them several times a day. My doc put me back on the Lexapro & I've been taking it almost 2 1/2 weeks. It takes a little time to start seeing a change but I think I'm beginning to feel a little better. I haven't seen any side effects other than the occasional headache & that will go away. It took me a few days to be ok with taking it because I didn't want to take something that would have a negative effect on the baby. I talked to the pedi & a lactation consultant at the hospital before I felt ok with taking it. The LC said it was fine & that I should take it so I can feel better & enjoy my baby,

This was the first medication my doctor suggested. I was on it for a month, and I had a headache every.single.day. I'm on Zoloft now and no headaches, and it seems to be working a little better
Thanks for the replies...I think I am just in denial still that I need to take something. I will call my dr today to discuss it again.
i was bothered by the idea of having to take medications, too. but you should know that your dr will start you on the lowest dose. if you have any side effects, you'll be reevaluated for something else. lexapro is safe and effective for treating anxiety and depression. but it does take awhile... i started it at 3 weeks and didn't notice a major difference for awhile. and by that point, i didn't know if it was because of the drug or because i was just dealing better.
