We have finally put together a list of 5 names for our little guy. We have a very Irish last name and are looking to keep the first name Irish and classic. What do you girls think? I'm up for honest opinions![Poll]
I usually think Ryan is too trendy, but out of your choices I like it the best paired with James.
I have to throw up my two favorite names-
Wesley James
Logan James
...as if you don't have enough to think about! GL! Let us know what you pick!
Thanks! It's been a long process to even get our list to those 5! I don't think we'll ultimately decide until we meet the little guy but we want to at least narrow it down to 3.
I like Colin James the best. Very traditional Irish first name. And you can always shorten his name/call him CJ.
My friends just named their son Calvin James and they call him CJ.
It's funny you mention that! We have a friend that took his first and middle name and is called CJ. I actually would like to have a first name that he solely uses, no shortened name, no nicknames, etc...
I really like Ryan James. I don't think it's overly trendy although maybe it's a trend emerging just this year so I haven't noticed a ton of babies named Ryan yet? Agree that Rory is maybe a little girly.
Colin is my fave, but I pretty much like all of them. Though I probably wouldn't use Ryan since it's so common and when I hear "Rory," I think more "girl" than "boy." Keegan is very cute. Quinn would have been LO's middle name if it was a girl, though I do think it can be either boy or girl.
My fear with Ryan is that it is too common. I feel like Ryan was common when I was a kid but not so much now. It doesn't really sound very "Irish" to me though.
My fear with Rory is that it is becoming common as a girl's name. Totally agree...Gilmore Girls anyone?
My fear with Keegan is that it's cute for a baby/kid but not a name that can carry as an adult. Definitely agree with this.
Anyone have thoughts on my fears?
I like Connor (it's my nephews name) and I like Quinn alot. We have a whole bunch of Irish names on one side of my family the boys are:
Connor
Declan
Liam
Ian
Callum
Cashel
Not to confuse you, just thought I'd throw them out there.

Ryan is on our short list too...Ryan James, actually, if you can believe that (James is family name on my side so it's for sure). Ryan is DH's choice and while I do really like the name and think it goes very well with James for the middle name, I just wish it wasn't quite so common....BUT in the end, it's probably what we will go with because I just can't fight about it with him anymore and truth be told, I think it is a really great name.

I really like Ryan James. Ryan, IMO, is more classic at this point than trendy. Ryan was 1 of our top 2 names, but we went with William (both are family names). Now I'm pushing for "Liam" as a nickname (partly for the Irish factor--we have a very Irish last name as well).
I really like your whole name list! So much that I couldn't even vote. I've been considering Colin and Quinn a lot myself. I really really like Quinn, but I'm afraid it's becoming too much of a girl name now because of Glee. I can't quite get over it though and keep coming back to it...

I voted Ryan James BUT I also really love the name Liam. Liam was on our list of boy names but DH didn't care for it too much so we went with Caleb James instead!

What do you think of Colin William M instead?

You took the words right out of my mouth! I like this one too!

I LOVE Collin (it would be on our list but I have a cousin with the name)
I also like Ian
