Calling all Busty Mamma's

What nursing bras have you found to be the most supportive? I have been looking and they all look so flimsy and unsupportive. I refuse to wear a bra without an underwire.

TIA :)

  • I bought a boxed bra at walmart. LOL I know its so sad! But my boobs are HUGE and I am not spending my usual $50 for a bra when I wont be wearing it long

I have looked everywhere I feel like. I think I am just too picky.

  • underwire nursing bras are actually not rec. because the underwire digging into your boob can result in clogged ducts. women till wear them w/o issue si'm sure- but the few times i did wear a normal underwire, clog!

i got a few bras from Motherhood & my favorite is a minimizer nursing bra that they have. it doesn't have an underwire but the support is still there.

  • I'm just lurking on 3rd tri (sorry!), but wanted to put in my two cents. I'm quite busty (40DDD pre-pregnancy), and I saw that JC Penney's has a lot of their nursing bras on sale for $18.99 right now. I ordered 3 of the only one that went up to a 44-DDD size. I don't want to spend $50 on a Bravado, so I thought I would give these a try. If they suck, I'll return them, no harm done. Good luck!

  • I just wear my regular non-nursing, unsexy Bali bras!  I just either pop my boob out of the top of the bra for a quick feed or pull the bra down around my waist if I know it's going to be a long nursing session.  It's worked just fine for me!
  • I wear a size 38F-FF. I buy the most wonderful bras at lane bryant. They are GREAT and atcually fit wonderfully. But I just cant see spending that kind of money for a nursing bra.

Thanks. I had no idea that an underwire could cause a clogged duct. I need to make a trip to motherhood and try a few.  I was being stubborn about the underwire.

I usually wear VS , but I can't make myself pay $50 for a nursing bra!

  • For my pregnancy I'm just using creep-o bras I got at Kholes.  They are underwires, but don't really keep me shaped like I'd like, but they are comforatable, and I don't worry about tossing them in the wash becasue they were so cheap.  If I used my expencive Nordstrom bras, they'd be streatched to hell by now.  I'm normally a C or a DD, but now I'm an H!!!  It is infuckingsane!  But, I find that when I get home, taking off my bra isn't the first thing on my mind.
  • I'm so glad you posted this. I briefly looked at nursing bras at BRU and didn't even want to try them on because they looked so flimsy. I really want support, function and comfort since they already are soo heavy. I can't even imagine how they will feel once milk comes in.

  • How do you feel about a sports bra?  I've found them great to nurse DS when he was little?  And when I'm not at work.
  • I wear an E normally and now I am an F. I bought some Bravado double plus traditional bras and I like those but they are much more of a lounge/running around bra not something to wear to work. I also ordered the "Goddess" nursing bra online (if you Google it you will find it)

Biggerbras.com has a good selection and then I order them on Ebay for the cost. Right now I am wearing a Pea in the Pod wireless nursing bra that is a 40E with an extender, I am not really sure how it still fits but somehow it keeps the girls at a decent level.

  • I just went to Motherhood Maternity and bought 4 nursing bras because my 32DDs grew to apparently 38Es.  The bras were all around $18 and they are currently having a buy 3 get 1 free sale.

  • I wore a 38H when I was nursing my first and the best bras I found were Bravado!  They have tanks and bras that were just great!  They are on the pricey side but for me it was worth it and I wore them 1.5 years.  Plus since I'm busty anyway I always spend a lot of a good supportive bra.

My town has a breast feeding center that sells things like pumps and bras and they do bra fittings.  I went when my baby was 2 weeks old and got fitted.  You should see if your area has a store like that.  The breast feeding center here also has support groups or you can just pop in and weigh/feed your baby as you see fit.

I don't mind them at home, but I look like I have a uni-boob when I wear them. I have a few that I plan on wearing at home.

  • I have bought nursing bras from lots of placed and makers.THE best one I have found so far is the Medela full coverage nursing bra. I do believe BRU does carry it, but I am not 100% sure on that. I was in a i/j cup with my first 2 and they were the best support I could find!

  • Glamourmom Mbody Starter Nursing Bra - heat molded cups to give cup support without the wires.  The bra has wider straps, inner sling for added support.  If you are also looking for tanks Glamourmom full bust long tanks are also a great option.  A tank with adjustability to give the same support as a cotton bra.

And unless you are confident that you are wearing the properly fitted underwire bra I would not recommend wearing an underwire bra while you are nursing.

    Hope this helps!
