I think mine might be messed up. I just got it about a month ago, maybe not even that long. I also got one of the mesh k-cups so I could use my own coffee. When I use it (the mesh one), water comes out everywhere from underneath. Coffee does come out the hole in the bottom, but clear water comes out all around it. Is that normal? I've made sure there are no coffee grounds around the lid and it's on tight. I've also switched to a coarser ground to see if that helps and it doesn't. My mom has a keurig too and a mesh k-cup and she says hers doesn't do that.
Also, occassionally when I'm brewing from a regular k-cup, the foil on the top busts open and I get grounds in my coffee. It's only happened a few times. Is that something that inevitably happens every now and then or should I call customer service?
I'm not sure if there's a problem with the keurig or the mesh k-cup or what. I can't see anything wrong, there are no grounds up in the needle or anything. It's like water is not only going through the k-cup, but also all around it, because it's perfectly clean, clear water. And when I open the top, there is water all inside and I don't think there's supposed to be. But it's been doing it from day 1 so I don't know what's "normal".
Re: If you have a Keurig
Hmmm...I think you have a defective one. My mom bought 2 different ones (from Costco) and it was just a bad batch.
I've never really had an issue with grounds in my coffee (unless it's been a LONG time since I've cleaned it) or the foil busting open.
As far as the mesh cup, do you have it in there correctly? I don't really have any advice, that's just bizarre. We've never had issues with ours.
I would take it back, tell them it's not working properly & ask for a new one. Kohls is usually really good about returns. Hope you get a good one soon!
And now you've inspired me to have a cup of coffee...
My friends had an issue with their Keurig, and the company was actually really easy to deal with. In fact, they ended up sending them an entirely new machine even though the problem was in one little piece that needed replaced. My friends ended up replacing the piece on the busted one, and they now have two Keurigs for the price of one (and some hassle).
Food for thought.
