Eclaires or other Mini Boden buyers

How much shrinkage is normal for Mini Boden?  I wash all of B's clothes in the delicate cycle with 7th Gen detergent and I air dry all of the Boden.  I'm am really surprised at the shrinkage.  I compared one shirt that I washed to one that we haven't worn yet and the shrinkage was considerable.  Any tips, or should I just expect this with Boden, especially in the shirts.

Thanks!

  • I haven't had any problems with any of the shirts from there and I was on warm and dry them on light.

  • The only thing I have really noticed that has shrunk is a knit dress that I got for DD this year.  When it is hanging in her closet, it is definitely shorter than other dresses in the same size and I don't remember that being the case before I washed it.  But, overall, I can't think of anything else that has shrunk and we have quite a few things.  Actually, I take that back, I had a wool sweater shrink an entire size after washing it according to the tag.  They replaced it.
  • Hmmm.  I have the opposite problem.  All of the shirts I have for my son are too big, so I tried to shrink them a bit and had no luck.  Weird?!
  • Another MBoden question - anyone have their jackets?

I'm thinking about getting DS (20 months, 35", 29lbs.) their fleece coat as he needs something a littler warmer than a hoodie.

Do I get the 2-3 or the 1.5-2? He's right on the edge for height based off their sizing. His boden 18-24 month shirts still have enough length on them, but not sure how their jackets run.

  • I haven't had a shrinking problem with Boden. I wash on warm and let them dry on a clothing rack. Boden runs big on my kids. If you bought it within the last 3 months you can return/exchange it, though.

  • DS has a bunch of stuff from there when he was born.  It shrank a lot after the 1st wash, but it was kind of giant to begin with, so was still true to size, if not kind of larger.
  • I have a ton of Boden stuff for DS and have never had a problem with things shrinking.

For the PP who asked about coats - I have gotten DS's winter coat from them for the last 3 years. This year I am not getting him a new one because last year's still fits (I believe it is a 3-4 yr size). Boden runs on the big/roomy size for DS (he is tall but very thin), but for coats I always err on the side of ordering up, since you layer so much plus hopefully can get more than one year out of it. Their coats are great!

  • Hmm, I've never had a shrinkage problem w/ MB and I air dry everything.  I wonder if it was just that one specific item?

I find the jackets to be smaller than the shirts. My DS is pretty small for a 5 year old, yet I had to get him the 5-6y size when he was still 4 and a half. All the other things he can have according to his age, but the jacket shrunk quite a bit.
