Should I bring a robe?

Should I bring a robe to the hospital?  I kinda wanted to but it takes up so much room in my suitcase...

Are you bringing a robe to the hospital?

Re: Should I bring a robe?

  • bring one you wouldn"t mind ruining...but yes...

  • My sis told me that is one of the only things she was really grateful for. She had to stay longer because their DD had an infection, so maybe on a typical short stay it won't be as important, but it'll be more comfortable for you if you have to walk down the halls for anything, and personally I love cuddling up in a nice robe when I'm feeling worn out/tired
  • I have been hospitalized for previa for 13 days and still dont have a robe or need one.
  • i'm bringing one, for warmth, comfort, and to feel less hospital-ly. ?i got a short one from Target, doesn't take up too much room.
  • It is one of the must haves on my list. I don't want my a** hanging out of my hospital gown if they make me walk up and down the hall to speed things along.

My sister spent about 15 minutes walking in the hospital halls for each hour she was in labor (up until she was 6 centimeters) and said the robe was a complete necessity to keep your backside covered.

  • I brought a lightweight robe with DS (it was June though) and was soooo glad that I did!
  • I am going to pack one so I'm not stuck wearing only a hospital gown. I don't plan on bringing any of my night gowns.
  • Personally, I didn't find it necessary.  The hospital provided one (it was light and flimsy but it covered everything) and it went over the hospital gown.  I ended up finding that I overpacked.  The hospital pretty much provided everything I needed.  But I also had a fast labor and only stayed in the hospital one night and was out 24 hrs later.  So for me, not packing one was fine.

  • When I had DS, I was really glad I had my robe along b/c before my epidural, I could walk the halls with DH. I didn't use it a whole lot after delivery, but it was nice to have when people were visiting, etc.

  • I don't think I'm going to.  Just one more thing for me to forget at the hospital...

  • I bought a new one just in case. I didn't want to get my nice one messy, so I went to Target and got a dark brown one for $20. I think it would be good to have in case you wanted to be comfy and mine is VERY soft and comfy.
  • Yes!  Its the one thing I was so glad I brought for both of my children's births.
  • I was very very glad that I packed a robe- I didn't wear it a bunch but it was nice to have it.
  • my mom claims you need to bring one cause it get cold and the gown is opened in the back.
