Babies: 3 - 6 Months

What temp is your heat set on at night?

We are having a battle over the temperature in our condo overnight. MH is afraid the baby will be cold so he had it in the 70's and it ran the whole night and we all woke up sweating. It's not even cold here yet!

At what outside temp will you have the heat on at night? And what temp will you set the heat to? Thanks!

  • It's in the upper 40's here at night and we haven't turned on the heat. It's about 66 in the house right now and it's chilly. I like to keep it around 68.

  • It's been around 67 when we go to bed at night, but Riley has been waking up really fussy and her hands have been cold (which I know is normal). I've been turning the heat up to like 72, and she's been sleeping much better after that. And I don't mind being that warm at night :)

  • I struggle with this every night!  It has been getting cold here at night and when we would wake it was between 63 and 65 in here.  Personally I like it cold at night so I can snuggle up with the blankets.  But LO is waking up and his head is cold and his hands are like ice cubes.  I know his hands are ok cold but I can't believe he can be comfortable that way.  So I have been turning the heat on and trying to keep it around 68 but we have a crappy heating system that is really hard to maintain a temp.  Ahhh, it's going to be a long winter!

  • We haven't turned ours on yet. We have the windows open during the day, then we shut them at night but I haven't noticed DS being cold and DD is just fine, I love being cold so I can use lots of covers but as soon as they start getting cold we will turn it on.

  • We set it at 70.  We might lower it though - it's pretty hot in the middle of the night.

  • In NY here and it was in the upper 40's last night. We had the temp in DD's room set to 70 and the unit (dual AC and heat) was pumping out heat last night. She was dressed in a light cotton footed sleeper and a microfleece sleepsack, and I'm pretty sure she woke up screaming this morning at 2;30 because she was too hot. After I turned it down to 68, she went back to sleep. I think we'll keep it at 68 until it gets colder (low 40's, upper 30's) at night.

  • It's been low 40s here and the thermostat is always set between 69-72.

  • Our thermostat is set for 66 at night (used to be 62 pre-baby!)  She sleeps in a fleece sleeper.  I live in NY it's in the 40s at night but I don't think the heat has even really kicked on much during the night.  It did come on the other day when it dipped below 66 in the house during the day.
  • We keep it around 68.....

  • It's been in the 40s overnight here lately.  We keep the heat on 68 at night, but DS's room always seems a little warmer.  His baby monitor tells us the temp in his room and it's always around 70-72.  He sleeps in a cotton footed sleeper and sleep sack most nights.

  • It is in the mid-40's here at night and last weekend our house got down to 64. Way too cold! We have the heat set to come on at 68 degrees. They say for SIDS prevention it is best to keep the temp b/w 68 and 72 I think.
  • I still have the AC on here... set at 74...

  • We keep the heat set at 62, day and night.  It was 58 pre-baby, but I talked DH into increasing it a few degrees.
