Groupon for Picaboo

I remember someone here had a good experience with Picaboo? They're having a Groupon for $35 for $100 worth of stuff and you can use it towards tax and shipping too. It's under the San Diego Groupon site.

Re: Groupon for Picaboo

  • when i asked around about it last time i found mostly found negative reviews, so i didn't get the last deal that came up

  • Hehe, after your post, i almost returned my groupon...but i did some more research and I decided to keep it because (1) it's kinda mixed reviews--some people love it, some people didn't. But for those who didn't, the main complaints about Picaboo was that the pictures are too dark but are fine after you lighten them (so I'm just gonna lighten them in Lightroom to do so without sacrificing quality) and that it was kinda expensive for the result (which is not an issue since the Groupon is such a good deal)...so I'll try it and see how it goes =) For $35, it's worth it to me to try them and get $100 worth of stuff for it...

Thanks for the heads-up though! If it weren't for your post, I would've never known to lighten the pictures and have gotten a super dark product =P

please let me know what you think when you get it back!

i also found this site when i was looking for reviews if you want to check it out. of course reviews are always subjective and i am not sure i'd review shutterfly as better than MP, so take it with a grain of salt.....

Thanks for that site! It's nice to see a side-by-side comparison like that! When I was researching on Picaboo, I also found this one where a new father orders a photo book from each company (talk about $ investment on this project!) and it's really nice because (1) he was doing a baby photo book, so it's really relevant to my needs (2) he had high-res pics of the results of the book from each company (3) he does a video review of each book where he flips the viewer through it (4) provides a results summary at the end. That's where I learned about the darkness issue that came with Picaboo (oh, and they cut off edges of text/words sometimes, so that's another thing to keep in mind...)
