My son had his tongue-tie corrected today! It was harder on me than him

Anyway, he has latched w/o the nipple shield at two nursing sessions! Please pray this keeps happening and nursing gets easier for us!
PPD/PPA Mom...it has been super hard, but I'm making it! Slow steps...

Re: Yay...DS got his tongue-tie taken care of today!
Did they use a laser? Did he seem to be in pain at all during the procedure or after?
My DD goes in two weeks and I am so nervous. I just don't want her to be in pain.
They didn't use the laser...they clipped it.
He def. screamed and cried and was making a gurgling sound (b/c of saliva and blood in his throat). The DR's said at such a young age their isn't many nerve endings in that little piece of skin. So therefore it doesn't hurt them much. What they hate most is being held down and the clamp on the tongue...not the cut itself.
I cried though! As soon as they were done I just popped him on my breast and he started nursing right away. He was laughing when we left the office and fell asleep on the way home. So I think it was harder on me than him.

No...I asked and they said they don't numb it.
He is doing fine though. Good luck!

My DS got has clipped at 4 weeks. They just used some baby orajel to numb it.
It totally saved breastfeeding for us. He wasn't gaining weight and I was getting deep cracks. It took him about a week to break his bad habits from trying to compensate for the tongue tie, but ever since 5 weeks he's been nursing like a champ and I've been pain free too. Hope it helps you too!
