  I think my DD was 3 months old when we got ours...it took forever!!

  u filled out the stuff in the hospital and they mail it in. it takes anywhere from 2-4 months i've heard! ours was about 2.5  months.

  oh ok good!!  I thought I checked the box on the birth certificate for a SS number but was worried since it's been almost two months that I missed a form.  Need to get LO's savings account started!

  For what its worth, you can open a savings acct for a minor without a SS#. I did it for D3 when he was born.

  holy cute new siggy pic!!!  Adorable!!

  I already asked our bank and they said I had to wait.  Which is fine, I just opened a joint savings with DH and that's where we've been putting his gift money.

  Oh. Well @ Wachovia you can open an acct and be the acct. custodian until he turns 18 which basically means he can only deposit but can't withdraw but that you could do either.

   I'm glad you like the pic! It's one of my favorites.

  I went through the same wait for DS's SS#. I called SSA and they told me that NC was the next to last as far as speed in issuing SS#s (worst being Illinois). They told me it would be at least 13 weeks from the time we applied (we checked the box for a SS# on the birth certificate at the hospital).
