Nursing moms: Flu shots?

I went today to the flu shot clinic in Walgreens and they wouldn't let me get the shot "Fluarix" because I'm nursing.  Aparently there are two different types and the other one is safe for sure, the Fluarix-they just don't know how safe it is.  Anyone have any experience w/ this?

  • Yes, the "other one" is thermerisol free,so that's probably what they are referring to.

  • Thank you thank you for posting this...I was wondering if I needed to get the thirmesol free one.

My midwife had them when I was pregnant; I need to give her call to get one for myself.

  • Thank you for posting this!  I never would have thought about getting the thimerosol free one while nursing.

  • According to my pedi, Flumist is the nasal vaccine, and you can't get that if you are bf.  It contains live virus.
