We recently moved our dog's crate (shih tzu, so he's small) into our laundry room to keep DD out of it. She has been obsessed with it since discovering it and likes to pull up on it. The crate is wire and the corners are sharp. We also keep our dog's food in his crate.
I've quickly discovered that it does not work to keep the door shut because that causes the dog to stand at the door and bark when he wants access to his crate. Leaving the door open, the baby can quckly and easily make her way to the crate (the laundry room is right off the living room and is in fact within my line of sight from this room).
So, I found this gate: https://www.amazon.com/Carlson-0941PW-Extra-Tall-Walk-Thru-White/dp/B000JJFNJK/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1287499953&sr=8-6
The pet door opening is 10"x7". DD is actually very close to the same size as my dog, but I know she will grow eventually. lol. Now that I'm thinking about it, I don't know if this gate will keep DD out after all? I'm wondering if it's likely she could fit right through the pet door?? WDYT?
Re: Do you think my LO could fit through this?
Our pet door is a medium size and he gets through it pretty easily, but if it were any smaller I don't think he could do it. Really the only thing you could do would be to get it and see. Oh and my LO found the dog bowls this week and is obsessed, so I feel for you. Ours are in the laundry room, that gate might be just the thing actually...
