I'm so tired...i wake to pump every 2hrs to increase supply. i put them on the breast here and there but they have latching issues. I wake them every 3hrs to feed.
our pedi told us the same until they regained their birth weight. For us that took us FOREVER. Hopefully yours do soon! And if they have, relax and sleep the night away!
Not sure what they weight/how preemie they are but on average when they hit around 7-8 lbs you can prob stop waking them and feed them on demand at night. I would def wake them during the day though.
Also, all you really need to do regarding pumping to build/maintain your supply is pump once late night ie 11 or so, and then once at or before 5. Sleep mommy, you need it.
I feel your pain! My twins are preemies and rarely wake to eat. We have to wake them every 3 hours day and night....and I pump also. I usually skip a pump at night to get some extra zzzzs. My pedi said I needed to continue to wake them until their original due date and that by then they should be 7-8lbs and waking on their own to eat. I can't wait! But for now we are also told to never let them go over 4 hours b/c of the risk of dehydration.
Re: when do you stop waking baby to eat?
I was told to wake them up to feed ny pediatrician in the beginning. Everyone else is telling me to let them wake when they are hungry.
Have they regained their birth weight? If so, stop waking them up at night!!!
I still wake them up every 3 hours during the day to make sure they get enough to eat to STTN.
