With my girls I never had to do IVF as Injectables/IUI got us where we needed to be eventually. However, in a few mos I *may* have an opportunity to do a frozen egg transfer. (long story)
Can you tell me what that would involve? I know it's definitely on the light side of meds but which meds, how long, etc.
Re: Tell me about a FET
long story - they wouldn't be mine. I would be a gestational carrier.
Anyway, what would it involve? Just making sure I understand everything before I commit.
I have a friend who has been a GC for a family twice. Her FETs included a month or so of lupron, BCPs, then estrogen until transfer. She did have some headaches from the lupron, but overall, it was not hard on her or nearly as time consuming as an IVF cycle.
Let us know more when you find out. I am interested in hearing about your situation.
I did a natural FET to get pg w/ S2.
It involved:
- monitoring until O (on my own)
- a trigger (just 'cuz doc wanted to be "sure")
- progesterone supps
- antibiotics for the transfer
That was it. Really light on the meds. The RE did to an SHG and mock transfer before we got started to make sure that my first pregnancy didn't leave any uterine scarring. The rest felt really quick as we just went by my regular cycle periodl

It does vary quite a bit. I did a month of bcp's (althrough I really didn't HAVE to). I DID NOT do Lupron and went straight to the FET cycle. On CD 2 I started Estrace and then had a lining check at CD 8. Then I did PIO starting CD 12 and thawed embies on CD 15 with a transfer on CD 16.
I think it would be great for you to be a gestational carrier for someone. What a great gift to give to someone.
WHAAA??
WOW! You are an amazing person for volunteering to do this!
I want to hear more about it
Building a house with two under 2 and being a gestational carrier....I am stressed thinking about it! ha ha!
GL and keep us posted because I'm nosey

Oh my goodness!
WOW WOW WOW!
What an amazing thing to consider, A! As if you're not busy enough as it is.
But it's the MOST generous, selfless thing to offer someone. PLEASE keep us posted!!!

Pregnant with #2 with LPD, uterine polyp/hysteroscopy, DOR (AMH = 0.17), 2 c/ps
Our early Christmas present 12/9/10
We're just in consideration. The couple hasn't picked us officially yet. We've just been getting to know each other, etc. I want to make sure I protect their privacy but I'll give more details if this is a go.
My kids can be challenging some days but generally they're so well behaved. Ana is my chill kid, so I feel like being pg won't be too much trouble. We are set to move into our new home the day before Christmas so I anticipate after all of the legal stuff gets worked out we'd start after that.
I think you're pretty cool, Reems.
I sit here crying hoping that someday, someone says they'll do this for us. While I hope, I'm realistic. I could really be broken. Ironically, it's something I always said I would do for someone, before I knew I was so messed up ;-(
I'm doing my FET prep now, super easy. Lupron headaches suck, but other than that, it's just remembering to take my estrace 3x a day.
Reems...I PPH you...what an amazing thing to do for someone.
(((Hugs)))
I found my FET to be very stress free compared to a fresh cycle. The worst part was probably all the vaginal progesterone - what a mess! LOL!
Good luck! Please keep us posted!
Don't write checks your ute can't cash. lol. I have that in writing, now, ha!
;-)
I was serious Davez. This is something I've wanted to do. If this doesn't pan out and you come to a place where you are in need, look me up.
Em - hopefully it works out. Like I said, we're just in the exploration stage.
