I find alot of moms hope for a girl. Is this a women thing that we want a little girl that we can relate to or something else?
With my first, I really wanted a girl. I never had brothers and didn't know what I would do with a boy, funny enough we had a boy and it is awesome!
I did get a girl with my 2nd and maybe it's just me, but I find girls are kind of over-rated lol Yes, the clothes are cute for girls but my daughter is 3 and so high maitnence already. She has the total diva attitude and I know I'm going to be in big trouble in about 10 years.
The hubby and I are contemplating on whether we will find out what this one will be but honestly, I really don't care. With having one of each already, it doesn't really matter. I don't even have a prefernce, it feels kind of strange.
Are you hoping for a certian gender? If so, is there a reason behind it?
Re: Speaking of being gung ho for a girl
I want a little girl so bad!
I look forward to planning her wedding together, doing fun things like running a 5k in tutu's together. Just those special mother/daughter things that I loved doing with my mom and grandma
I'm one of the ones who wants a girl desperately. Not because of the cute clothes or because I think I'll relate better, but because I have such a great relationship with my mom and had such a great relationship with my grandmother (her mom). I used to have more fun hanging out with my mom and gam than with friends sometimes.
And I know that there's a huge chance a daughter wouldn't have/want that relationship with me and my mom, but I'm so hopeful.
Silly, I know.
If we ever have more I hope for a girl for the same reason.
This is exactly how I feel. Ideally DH and I want one of each and will be happy with whatever we get but I do really hope for a little girl. Also I'm very much a girly girl who was into dance, cheerleading, and gymnastics and I'd love to be able to enjoy these things with a daughter. Having said that I'm also a huge football and baseball fan so a boy would be fun too. My whole family, and DH's family, is hoping for a little girl as well as both of our sisters have little boys!
I'll admit that I would love to have a little girl, and naturally DH wants a little boy.
Of course, a big part of the reasoning behind my wish for a little girl is to keep up the trend in my family. My maternal grandmother was one of two girls. She had three girls (and a fourth that was stillborn). My mother's older sister had two girls, and the oldest of them had two girls. Even my dad's sibling is a sister, lol, who had two girls. So I have a reputation to uphold, haha!
In all seriousness, we'll both be thrilled with whatever we end up having -- all that matters is that it is a healthy, happy baby!
I honestly dont care. All the children born in the last 5-6 years on either side of the family have been boys so everyone is hoping for it to be a girl.
While I would love a little girl to dress up in cute clothes and have a good relationship with, I would be head over heels for a little boy. Im very active and outdoor-sy so a boy would be loads of fun. I would ultimately like one of each but if I end up with 4 little boys oh well lol.
Im just hoping for a happy healthy Lil Bitty
I think when people hope so bad for a certain gender, they have certain (often unrealistic) expectations about what it will be like to have that gender.
What if your daughter doesn't like cheerleading or dancing?
What if your daughter doesn't want to get married? Or wants to elope?
What if your daughter doesn't want to be your BFF?
What if she isn't interested in shopping and getting a mani/pedi with you?
I think in many ways you set yourself up for disappointment by saying, "I want a girl because....." You just never know what your daughter will be like, kwim?
Also, i don't really understand going for a third just because you have two of the same gender. (I hear a lot of people say, "if this next one is our second boy, then we'll definitely have a third). Then you REALLY set yourself up. If you're not satisfied with having two boys, how are you going to feel if you end up with three?
