Babies: 9 - 12 Months

10mth old ?

Anyones 10 mth old still eating baby food? I keep trying different real foods and most of the time she dont want it or spits it out. SO frustrating.

Re: 10mth old ?

  • DD struggles with it but is getting better slowly.  She gaggs alot and sometimes throws up from her gag reflex.  She doesn't like texture right now.  So I try to give her puffs and little things daily so she can eventually move on.  I crack up when I hear that babies eat grilled cheese etc.  DD's not even close to being ready.

  • DD doesn't even show an interesty in feeding herself. So baby food it is. If i out something other than baby food in her mouth it stays on her tongue and she sticks her tongue out.
  • DD is getting more comfortable with finger foods, but she will still eat purees I make. She really likes tofu, its easy to pick up and easy to chew. She's only gotten more used to eating pasta in the past few days.
  • My dd is still eating purees. I'm slowly introducing "real" food to her. She definitely likes to feed herself and has finally started "chewing" food. In the past week we given her spagetti and pancakes. I'm not in any rush to get her eating "real" food.
  • DD will happily still eat the stage 2 purees. If I give her stage 3, she will scrape it off her tongue with her fingers and throw it at me (or the cats). She does love finger foods, though, so she's been getting a lot more of those lately. I wouldn't worry yet about your LO not wanting real solids, she still has some time to figure it all out. Just keep offering it; eventually she will be interested.
  • Tegan seems to really like finger foods, but I'm not confident enough with her eating to take her off purees. She seems to lose interest in eating finger foods before she actually eats enough. She also only has 2 teeth, which I think keeps her from fully enjoying finger foods.

  • We do about half puree, half finger food.

  • I puree and then mix it with rice for texture.  I started out mashing the rice and worked my way up to straight out of the cooker.  As for crackers and such, they used to chew and love to eat them.. now, they want to stick it whole in their mouths and end up gagging... and seem tired of plain flavored snacks.  They are really getting a taste for flavors!

When I give DD real food for a meal, she refuses also.  If I give her the same food off my plate.. she always wants more.  But that is a bad habit.
