OK, it's petty and probably pathetic too. My friends shower is this saturday, and of the 25 people that were invited, only about 10 can make it. And that makes me a little sad. Part of it is I wanted to see everyone & part of it is that I want presents. But not gift grabby really, I just like seeing all the cute stuff my friends pick out.
Flame me if you must, I can take it from you biitches. ![]()

All are welcome in my posts
Thanks all. I was starting to feel like a greedy, self-centered biotch. And, just to whine a little more, I go to all their stuff too! Some of the excuses for the ones not coming are OMG so lame. ugh!
Maybe fries & a McFlurry will help me out? hehe. Or a mini sized mint Oreo blizzard.
this is a full sized blizzard moment, if you ask me
don't worry about it too much, just enjoy the company of those who DO come and make sure they know you appreciate them being there. just out of curiosity, what are some of their excuses?! I love lame excuses!!!
I totally get where you're coming from--only about half the people we invited could actually make it to our shower--but look on the bright side; you'll have twice as much time to spend with each guest and you won't have to worry as much about diving your time between the people who are there. Even though I would have loved to see more people, having a smaller shower was actually really nice and relaxing, so it all worked out for the best.
(P.S. - The people who can't come will still mail you a gift. Totally!)
::Butting In:: My grandmothers excuse was a little on the lame side. She works at a consignment shop as a volunteer every Saturday until 12:00. She was told about the shower about 5-6 weeks ago. She never rsvp'ed but I assumed she was coming because she never rsvp's (she always says she doesn't have to because we should know she will be there). Anyways my shower was at 1:00 and she never came. When my mom called and asked she said she couldn't come because the consignment shop needed her to work. Really!?! You had 5 weeks notice and you couldn't find someone to cover for you for like 4 hours. Nevermind the fact that she only works until 12 and the shower started at 1. She lives like 10 mins from the shower location.
As for the gifts, I did get one in the mail already from someone that can't make it & it was TOTALLY cute!! So, I guess that's alright.
I completely understand. I invited about 40 people and I'm guessing it will be closer to 20, which is fine. I'm sure you'll have a great time with the 10 that come. I only had about 7 people come to my bridal shower and that was a great time
Boo to those people that do that! Ive learned that in events like this- you find out who your true friends are and for those that are family.. you better remember this when something for them rolls around. Id def put my foot down. See I am the party planner/ thrower and I would be devastated if no one came to my special events. But some people just get to wrapped up w/ themselves to care about others and those are the people Id say good riddens too! Be strong and hey if you dont get some of the bug stuff craigslist is a great play to find them! just a thought- hope this helps?
This is exactly what happened at my shower. I was really more disappointed for my mom, who worked her rear off on the whole shower, than for myself, although it did kinda sting.
