Sick and bf: pedi said wear a mask

Where do I get said mask?  Pharmacy?

Thanks for your input, I just want to hold my babe again!!

Re: Sick and bf: pedi said wear a mask

  • yes, anything that will cover your mouth/nose for dropplets i'm assuming.  but, what do yo have if you don't mind me asking?

eta-just saw earlier post.  honestly, your pedi's recommendation seems a little extreme.  i nursed dd 1 &2 through many colds/viruses and they never got them...i only get crap from them :(

i had strep throat last month and my baby didn't get it.  just practice good handwashing and cover mouth/nose if sneezing/coughing.

you are most contagous b/f symptoms start so you may have already 'contaminated' lo so no point with the mask now.  it's part of sharing a house!

  • Your baby has already been exposed before your symptoms started. I wouldn't do the mask..

    Hold your baby

your baby was exposed to whatever you have before you even showed any symptoms.  most people are contagious 24-48 hours before they ever get sick.

your breastmilk is providing baby with antibodies to fight off whatever you have to help keep baby well.

I completely agree! What in the heck is your pediatrician thinking?
