I saw the boy scouts selling something today at the grocery store and I politely declined because refuse to support an organization that supports discrimination. Do you have any organizations or stores you refuse to support?
Yup, Babies R Us. I refuse to shop there anymore, because they wouldn't let me return my dd's sheets and blankets we bought. All I wanted was store credit, and I even explained that she was stillborn, and I would never use them. The A-holes, basically turned me away, so they've lost a customer for life. If I ever get pregnant again, I will not give them one dime of my business. I will probably just donate dd's things to a battered womens shelter.

WOW! I am so sorry you had to deal with all of that. That is just terrible!

The boy scouts prohibit, atheists, agnostics and gays from being a part of their organization. They even have kicked out boys because they found out their parents are gay. They also can openly do it because they are a private organization. I can't imagine letting my son be a part of such hatred and unacceptance.

A - I'm soo sorry for your loss
B - I hate BRU too, because of their return policies. I have had problems in the past but now that I've read this story, I'm not shopping there any more. That's just ridiculous. The manager has the ability to over ride whatever he/she wants, and he/she should have - esp after hearing your story. What an insensitive bunch of jerks!
I've also heard that Chick-fil-a has ties to organizations that support abortion clinic bombings. I really don't want to find out if that is true. I try to be socially conscious when I shop, but with all the small stores disappearing, it is getting harder.

I am so sorry to hear that and it is ridiculous they did feel the need to work with a customer. You should launch a complaint to their corporate office. having said that, recently a buy buy baby opened right near my house and I am taking my business there forever. BRU sucks.

First off, I am so sorry for your experience. It is awful to have to go through that.
I had the same thing happen to me - had a couple matching blankets that I couldn't return once we lost our girls. I normally don't boycott stores, but that certainly did me in.

When I read the title of this post the first thing that popped into my head was the boy scouts. I also wish I could boycott big name stores like Wal-Mart but they are just so cheap and easy. I am proud of myself for shopping there a lot less though. Baby steps.

The stories about BRU and how they treated your ladies after your losses makes me really sad and angry for you. I have had horrible experiences at BRU, but after hearing these stories, I am done with them. I really wish BBB was in SoCal.

I am sorry both of you had to go through that. It really saddens and angers me that BRU did that.

I'm pretty sure that's just a rumor. Why not find out before spreading it around?
At any rate, I don't boycott any organizations but some of these posts are making me want to boycott BRU! Another bumpie friend had a WONDERFUL experience with Target when she lost one of her triplets; I hate that BRU is not the same way. That's unconscionable.

This is the worst thing I've ever heard. Did you write their head office or president? That is horrid.
Nope. I avoid certain stores b/c I don't physically like to shop there for some reason, but that's it.
Are you talking about WalMart?
No. I was just referring to certain stores in my area that never have enough cashiers or I don't like how they are set up etc. I'll drive farther to another Target b/c our is assbackwards.

They donate to Focus On The Family, which is not only militantly pro-life, but is also militantly anti-gay marriage.

I don't know anything about these statements, so I don't want to comment on them. However, I did want to share that on my college campus Chick-fil-a sponsored many scholarships for kids and supported multiple foster homes housed on the campus.
To answer the original question, we try to avoid Wal-Mart and shop locally whenever possible.
Wow, I think what BRU did was horrible. Talk about lack of human decency.
I'd have to research Scouts Canada, I was part of the organization for years. They changed the name from boy scouts to Scouts Canada once they started allowing girls to join. I had great experiences with my involvement as a teenager, I would be really disapointed to learn if they discriminate like that.
Well, at least I know my troop didn't, we were more girls, plus there was one guy who was gay. No one batted an eye.

FOTF does not support bombing abortion clinics, which is what the pp specifically mentioned. I know FOTF is into political action, but not violence.
Thanks for the support ladies. I probably should have done more, but at the time I was less angry and more upset. I just wanted to get the heck out of there. It was hard to even put her things in a bag and take them down there. It almost felt like I was trying to erase her, kwim? I've just made it my pledge to tell everyone I know my story, and to buy ds's things at Target, Wal-mart or another store.
I don't love the big box store as much as anyone, but we don't always have the money to be pricey on stuff. Luckily, now that ds is a toddler and less baby, we don't have to price check formula anymore, so that means less Wal-Mart trips.

The BRU thing pisses me off and I'm sorry for you ladies. I never liked BRU anyways.
We buy from a neighbor boy scout every year. Yum carmel corn.
i avoid wal*mart at all costs
