I know this is a question that has been asked before, but I'm having problems with the search function to go back and look at old posts. Anyway, my DH is wonderful about wanting to please me and usually starts out "down there" before we actually have intercourse. However, I remembered seeing that saliva can be hostile to sperm, so I've been trying to steer him away from that during the fertile window without saying anything. I don't want him to stop for good! Embarrassed

Anyway, last night I got a positive OPK and during intercourse, he stopped, went down on me, and then we finished up with intercourse after that, a couple of minutes after. Is this still considered hostile to sperm, or is it only if spit is used as lube? I shouldn't complain that he loves doing that...I know I'm lucky...just don't want it to hurt our chances! And I'm super pumped that after Oing on CD 32 last month and typically having about 44 day cycles, it looks like I'm gonna O around CD20 this time around (wasn't even temping regularly yet this cycle b/c I thought it was too early to matter!) Don't want to hurt our chances at all. Thanks in advance!

Unless you are TTC without him knowing, then why can't you tell him? All you have to say is saliva DURING your window of ovulating is hostile.

And yes, saliva in the area in general is no good. It still gets inside of you.

Oh he's very on board with TTC....I'd never do something like that without him knowing. He's just one of those that would prefer not to know the details and just enjoy the process. I can tell him and probably will, just was wondering if that is an activity that should be avoided during the fertile window...I've heard mixed reviews and couldn't find the old posts.

I don't know..I am no MD but I don't see how some saliva externally are going to hurt sperm THAT much.

I honestly can't imagine sex w/o oral, It would be very difficult for me to orgasm (which supposedly helps sperm swim north).

I love oral, but yeah to me I'd rather get pregnant then get oral in that window. Avoid Saliva and regular lubes. They make TTC safe lube, I havn't tried any yet though.

I'm just all about upping my chances during those 4-5 days, so I'd enjoy the rest of the month but avoid then. I'm sure there are lots of stories of people that got pregnant and had oral sex as foreplay, but increasing my odds of getting KU is more important to me, and knowing saliva hurts those chances means I'm okay with missing out for a fairly brief period of time.

Same here! Which is why this question was so important for me.

My dh would think it VERY odd if I prevented the activity. And, he enjoys it Wink

Maybe we should try it. I bought pre-seed to use this month but I haven't used it yet. I bought it for poor CM quality, but maybe we need to omit oral sex totally.

I actually don't know much about the saliva part but read this post because I recently saw something in an earlier post about having to wipe off saliva if you give DH oral in the beginning.

I mainly just wanted to say kudos to you for a DH that enjoys that. I'm so jealous!

I would not worry too much about it. I got my BFP last month after having oral sex and using a bit of saliva as lube..

I do feel lucky that DH enjoys this! I think he just enjoys knowing how it makes me feel...usually way better than intercourse for me Embarrassed . Anyway, that's why I hate to ever discourage it, but I definitely can abstain for a few days if it increases my chances! That's definitely more important!
