DD spent Saturday night at my parents (DH and I desperately needed a night and especially early morning off!) I have commented to my mother periodically that DD is becoming a picky eater, but nothing excessive. I'm not concerned - seems like a healthy toddler development of her own personality/likes, etc.
So, we go to pick up DD on Sunday around lunch time and my mom - "I don't know what you are talking about her not eating - she ate a ton" Oh - great - so then I ask her what she fed her "Well for dinner she had 2 servings of macaroni and cheese (Kraft box of course) and ice cream and a cup of milk." And for breakfast she had 2 bowls of cereal" What kind of cereal - oh - honey nut cheerios.
UMMMMM - duh - that's all junk food Mom - of course she ate it! I don't really care that she fed her all that because I do want to make it easy and fun for my mom to watch her - and if she eats a bunch of junk once in a blue moon, so be it! But, don't be all impressed w/ yourself that you got her to gobble down junk - if all I fed her was cookies and pudding I'm sure she'd eat all that too. Darm me trying to get her to eat meat and vegetables. . .
Re: funny mini-vent about my mom
