No worries, I'm not planning on starting tomorrow or anything, but Jones is really starting to be very interested in what we are eating. He watches us, imitates chewing, and yesterday he started pouting and crying while watching me drinking something. He calmed down as soon as I brought it close to him for him to look at.
Just curious about when people started their children on solids. (and any stories/advice about why you did what you did would be greatly appreciated!)
Re: Clicky poll about starting solids
Because we're fancy like that.
Hi, just wanted to let you know I did this poll on 3-6 last week. Don't have time to search right now (fussy baby) but I will try later tonight if you can't find it.
I'm still curious to see what the SAIF girls say though!!
We started at 5 1/2 months. Although DS definitely seemed interested/ ready before then, I'm glad we waited because he hated any type of ceral (Can you blame him? I mean, have you smelled/ tasted that stuff?!) so we we skipped it and went straight to veggies and fruits.
I chose 6months but I have few friends who started at 4months at their pedi's suggestion..
We started at 4 months with rice cereal. After a few weeks, we moved on to oatmeal. At around 5 months, we started vegetables. Once we finished veggies, we moved on to fruit (where we are now).
C was very interested in food. Like Jones, he liked to watch, imitate, etc. He's been very interested in cups and drinking, so I imagine will start a sippy cup at 6 months.
Sigh. Where did my baby go?
CandT - I know you posted one on SAIF a while ago, it's here. Is that it?
(I've been working on my bump searching skills (using google), but I didn't see anything on 3-6.)
I chose 6 months but it was really like 6.5 months. And FWIW, Sam had been intensely watching us as well - it's not a good indicator they are ready though. Sam had ALL signs of being ready, including the loss of tongue thrust, being able to sit unassisted, yada yada yada. And he was still just not ready, because when we started, he vomited pretty much everything. He didn't become a good eater until closer to 7.5 months. The "signs" just aren't all that predictive, IMO.

Life is beautiful!
Good to know, never thought about using google. That is it, guess I meant to post on 3-6 and did SAIF instead..... duh.
