So our first book we will read for our informal IF Book club will be The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. (the vote was tied between this and The Help, so I made a choice).
Here are the guidelines, pick up the book and you have the next couple of weeks to read it. If you have already read this book you do not have to re-read it, unless you want to. The week after the deadline anyone who is participating can write posts about the book to the IF board and we will all discuss them. The posts can be about any topic related to the book.
Looking at the calendar (and with Thanksgiving only a couple weeks away) I think we should give everyone until Thanksgiving to read the book. This is about 5 weeks, and this way we can discuss the book on the board the week after Thanksgiving (Nov. 29th to Dec. 3rd). I'm not sure if this is too much time, but i figure alot of people (including myself) will be away the week of thanksgiving, so that would be a bad time to discuss it.
Please let me know if you have any other suggestions. I will post reminders throughout the time about this.
Happy reading everyone!!!
~Lauren~

I couldn't wait. I thought about letting Santa get it for me, but then I would be blowing money on books and then trying to get rid of the books later (since I already have too many books). $139 is good price. DH wants me to get an iPad, but I just don't think I need one. We (he) already has one.
I am hoping to get one for my MIL for Christmas.
Yes this!! I gave up on it about 4 times before I made it through the first 100 pages or so. Then it really picks up and never really stops.

I believe that is the European version of the movie. I believe they plan on making a US version as well. From google:
David Fincher is set to direct a Hollywood adaptation of the book, for release in December 2011.[12] According to The Guardian, George Clooney, Johnny Depp, and Brad Pitt were all interested in playing the central role of Mikael Blomkvist, but Daniel Craig was officially confirmed as the lead in July.[13]
On August 16, 2010, it was officially confirmed that Rooney Mara will play Lisbeth Salander.[14]
Robin Wright is currently in talks to play Erika Berger,[15] while Stellan Skarsg?rd is in talks to play Martin Vanger.[16]
I would have loved to have seen Clooney as Mikael.
Yes, took me a long time to get into it as well, but then it is really, really good.
FYI: I will be on vacation for the first book group "meeting", but count me in as a member for future books!
Count me in for the book club! Yay, I'm excited!!
