Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Anyone else's baby NOT STTN??

Ok...so I read daily posts about "how my kid slept for 12 hours straight last night".

That's wonderful and yes, I'm jealous and wish it was me that was getting the 12 hours of straight sleep...

However, my kid is only 8 weeks old and is NOT STTN...we are getting about a 4.5-5 hour stretch at the beginning, then are up every 2.5-3 hours after that...I don't expect anything more than that at this point, as he's not even 2 full months old yet...and he'll do it when he's ready...

Anyone else's LO NOT STTN yet?? Tell me I'm not alone!! Smile

  • We're a bit behind you in terms of age, but LO basically sleeps for about 5-6 hours if we're lucky.

  • our baby is 3 months old and it sounds like your baby is right on track with sleeping.

Our baby also still gets up at 3am for feedings.

  • Ds is 7w & sleeping 1030-2 then back 2.5 hrs. You are not alone!
  • You are not alone!  DD is 9.5 weeks and I'm lucky if I get a 4 hour stretch!  She might sleep from 11-2 some times, but then it's every 2.5-3 hours.  And most of the time at either the 2 am or 4 am feeding, it takes an hour to get her BACK to sleep!  I definitely feel your pain (and jealousy for all those moms who's LOs do sleep 10 hours)!
  • Longest stretch is 4 hrs and that's on a good night. Ugh

  • It's been said a million times that people on here are the worst ones to judge yourself against. You'll only see the good posts that you don't measure up to.

DD just started going 7-8 hours in her first stretch the past few weeks, so I think you're right on track.

This is us too!  DD is 12 weeks and just started this sleeping pattern out of the blue two weeks ago.  Sleeps from 8/9 p.m. until 2/3 a.m. and then up for the day around 7/8 a.m.  A few weeks ago I was going nuts reading all of the STTN posts for 6 week-old and 8 week-old babies!

  • Not me!!!! He sleeps 3 hours starting around 10pm and then gets up ever freaken hour until 6am!!

  • My baby sleeps from 11-3:30 or 4:00 sometimes. Then he nurses, falls asleep until 5-5:45, back up at 6, repeat. sometimes, I just get up at 7 am and go forth with my day.

  • up every 3 hours...u are not alone
  • We are almost 5 weeks and have had two nights of around 5.5 hours of sleep, then goes to ever 2-3 hours after that.

Since it's only been 2 nights I am not ready to call it a pattern, but it is nice.

  • We are there as well DD wakes up every 3 hours or so and I feel the same way about all the STTN posts.

This exactly - but we have the occasional 4 hours between 5am -9am - and I'll take it!

  • My LO is 5 weeks and he's up every 2-3 hours. He slept 4hrs once and I nearly cried tears of joy.

Our time will come...hopefully sooner than later

  • My little guy gets 3 1/2 to 4 hours for the first stretch, up at 4ish am (unless he's in bed early), and then down for another 3 1/2 to 4 hours. I don't expect him to STTN for awhile since he's a EBF baby, and will need to be fed more often than if he were on formula.

FWIW, I really love the 4 am feeding (for now anyway) because he's so snuggly afterward, usually falls asleep right away so I can hold him upright for 20 min for his reflux. Makes me feel needed I guess.  Wink

My 9 week old does this exactly.  He typically sleeps 10pm-3am, 4am-6:30 or 7:00am, then I bring him to bed  and we nurse and sleep until I can face the day (8:30-9:00am).

Ditto.  I figure it will come when it comes.  I try to enjoy our solitary night feedings.

This is pretty much us. You are not alone.

  • i recently read an article linking feeding schedules and early sttn to failure to thrive and dehydration in young baby's sleep training isn't recommended until 6 months for a reason
