Thinking about sleep deprivation...a funny...

When Caroline was still a teeny little baby, she slept in a PNP beside our bed.  She started crying one night, and I nudged my DH and told him to get her so I could nurse her.  He rolled over and gathered up some of the covers and said "here".  I said "honey, that's not the baby, that is the blanket".

He got pissed, looked me right in the eye and said "Dana, don't be ridiculous, I think I know my own child".  He was so exhausted, but it was one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

I laughed till I peed.

I'm not sure what has me thinking about that tonight...but everytime i think about it I laugh ;-)

  • Lol! My parents tell me a similar story from when I was first born. My mom thought I was crying and told my dad to get me and he picked up the alarm clock and put it in bed with them. It took them awhile to figure out I wasn't really crying and that they were sleeping with a clock.

  • So funny!  Several times in the early weeks with our boys, I woke up to find my husband patting and hugging his pillow.  When I asked him what he was doing, he told me he was taking care of Asher!  Another time my husband woke up, pulled up the covers to look under them, and told me he was looking for our babies.

I should note here that we never had the babies sleep in bed with us, only in their cribs or car seats in another room.
