Are these things any good? Do they give a definitive result? I like the digital ones but i hate forking out $14 every time I need to POAS. TIA for any feedback!
I never used the dollar store ones but I did use a few target and walgreen brand test and I never was sure about the results, like the lines were really faint or if it was to make a plus sign only the horizontal line would be dark and not the other. I ended up getting First Response like I took with DD because I know exactly how they look either negative or positive. I ended up taking over 5 tests this time because I was trying to save money and get cheaper ones lol.
I was suppose to start last week after going off my pills last month. I tried 3 of them and they look pretty legit. They all came out negative but that's probably because either I'm really not pregnant or my cycle still is irregular. You have to pee in a cup which I don't like, butvthe reading is simplified.

They worked for me. Most Dr. offices just use the same bulk test strips that you can buy on the internet. Pregnancy tests are pretty simple and don't have to be expensive.
They worked for me, but of course I went to get a digital to confirm. ha ha I don't know if you have a Target by you, but I bought a 3 pack of digital tests there for about $8.

A line is a line. The control line will always be dark, but depending on the amount of hormone in your urine the other line may be faint.
I got a + at 9 DPO on a cheapie dollar store test...I retested again at 13 DPO and got a positive again (it was much much darker this time). I'm now almost 11 weeks pregnant!

Oh, I know that, it was still faint with my First Response tests but these were to the point where you could barely see it, like my mom told me I was crazy and there was no line..and actually one from a pack was negative and the other was positive after only testing a day apart. The other wasn't the control line it was a separate window where the + wasn't the same darkness. I don't know I just felt better using a test I was familiar with because I knew what both results were supposed to look like. I have always said a line is a line but I didn't listen when it came to myself : )

I see what you are saying. I think a lot of people think a faint line isn't really a line. I remember that question being asked a lot on 1st tri and TTGP. I do agree with you that the First Response tests had a darker line for me the same day as the cheapies.
They always came up negative when I wasn't pregnant, and positive the one time I was. I think they can be relied on, at the very least as a first test. DH insisted I pee on a digital once the Dollar Tree test came up positive, but I only did it for him. I had no doubts that the positive I got on the cheap test was accurate.

Worked great for me. When I got a positive on the dollar store test, I confirmed it with the digital.

Didn't work for me. I tested with a cheapie & with a digital at the same time. I couldn't tell for sure if there was a line on the cheapie but, the digital came up pregnant.

I keep a supply of them in our bathroom. If I get a positive then I confirm with a digi test.
They worked for me very early in both of my pregnancies.
This for me, as well. Hate them.
