Parenting after a Loss

Please tell me i am not alone!

I feel like a bad mom, even though it has happened with her dad. So far, she has fell of the sofa, the bed, and down the stairs (about 4.) I know things happen, and she was never hurt, just scared with all of these incidents. But I feel like I'm not keeping a close enough watch on her. But she's always in my sight. Now when she fell off the sofa, her dad admitted her turned his back for a moment. He had gotten too comfortable with her being able to get down on her own. Just feeling a lil bad about it this am. If you've gotten this far, thanks fors *listening*.

  • Believe me, you are NOT alone.  DS is falling down all over the place.  He acts like freakin Evil Knievel.  He's getting bruises everywhere, I'm afraid people are going to think we're beating him.  You are so not a bad mom, it's impossible to avoid at this age that they're at!  I can't wait for there to be some sort of permanence with DS' memory so he will be like "hey, last time I continued to crawl when there was no bed left, I fell on my head.  maybe I won't do that again."

  • You're not a bad mom and not alone. Kaygan is just starting to get to the point of being a dare devil, and I know it won't be long before she's got bruises everywhere... I'm just thankful we're moving into cold weather and most of her body will be covered up Wink

I can't tell you the number of bruises I've had to retouch off of kids when doing their 9month and 1year photo shoots! That alone tells me that EVERY.single.kid goes through this!

  • You are totally not alone. N has bruises all over--legs, arms, and head. I swear people think I toss him around. The other day he was holding on to the TV stand and fell. I literally had my hand on him and he still stumbled and got a giant goose egg on his forehead before I could catch him. Even the most careful parents still have injured kids. Don't beat yourself up!

  • You are in GoOd coMpANy siSTeR!!  My daughter's father just sat and watched our little one fall off the couch when she was only 6 weeks old!!  She's had rolling both directions down since then, let me tell you!  So don't blame yourself!  Babies are suRprISiNgLy resilliant!

P.s. no matter WhAt your mom tells you, you do NOT have eyes in the circumferance of your head & you're probably out of your psychic pills (like me! lol!), so cut yourself a break... you deserve one!
