DHs mother is throwing everything together a little late for my baby shower and I am having the hardest time trying to figure out where I would like it at and she has asked me to choose, so just to get some ideas, where did you ladies have yours?
We had mine at my moms house. I prefer to have things like that at someones house rather than a restaurant because its a little more relaxing and you can get up and mingle with people.
i also had mine at my parents house. My mom initially considered a restaurant but asked my opinion, and i liked the idea of people being able to bounce in an out. I don't like the formality of a hall or restaurant.
Another plus is that there are no time constraints so afterwards several close family and friends hung around late into the evening, there was dancing, a little drinking (obviously not me), it was a blast!
My first one was in my friend's backyard and my next one will be at a tea house. The backyard was great, and relaxing/casual. I'm looking forward to the tea house too since it's fairly different.

I like the tea house idea too, I also found a cup cake shop that will do it, I thought that would be sorta cute.
My large one was @ a Metropark. 55-60 people. My small friends one is at my house, originally it was to help my BFF save some $ but now its convenient b/c I'm on bedrest.

My best friend and family are throwing mine but it will be at my house. I like the idea of being able to show off the nursery to everyone and bringing the gifts right upstairs instead of having to haul them home. Mine isn't until Nov. 6th...can't wait! The theme is a surprise. So I am letting them in a couple hours early while I go get a massage and then coming back when it's all done.
Mine will be at my father's house. It was my way of including him without him feeling awkward. He loved having my bridal shower at his house. He stayed upstairs but slowly start lurking at the top of the staircase and eventually was downstairs mingling haha.

The shower that my friends wanted to have for me was cancelled because I'm on bedrest, so I wasn't planning on there being one. Turns out mom in really intent on doing something for me, so she's having me invite a handful of friends over for lunch at her house (Nov 13), and that'll be my shower.
My Mom is hosting my shower, and it would be a lot of work for her to have it in her home, not to mention I don't know if all the guests would fit! So it is going to be at a restaurant in my hometown. I wanted her to do something that would be inexpensive and easiest for her. The shower is the Saturday after Thanksgiving so the owner is not charging her for use of the function room because he said it is always so dead that weekend, and of course not having to do clean up at her home makes things nice and easy. I'm really excited about it, as I loooooooove this place.

Due to everyone involved having a small home...we rented out a local hall for my shower next weekend. We found one that was decently priced for the size we needed.
my shower is tomorrow/ today (im too excited to sleep) and its going to be huge - something like 87 guests are confirmed. i work at a dance studio so its going to be there which works out perfectly since its basically like a big function hall and my mom and friends got to decorate it however they wanted (i cant wait to see how cute it looks) - and there isnt the cost of renting a facility and no one had to clean their house or worry about how to accommodate the crowd.

My friend hosted a baby shower for me last week at her house. Today is my second shower hosted by my SIL at her house.

All locations were free
DH's side: MIL's friends house (about 25ppl)
Co-ed/friend shower: friends house (10ppl)
My side/local/Mom's friends: church fireside room (60-80ppl?)
I had mine today!
It was at my sister's house. Same place we had my wedding shower in summer of 2009.
We were able to accomodate 30-35 people.
