Re: Looking for the best gift for my sis who JUST had TWINS!!

  • My Dad bought me a beautiful pair of earrings and brought them to the hospital after I had my girls.  It was nice to get something just for me.

I think most of us will tell you on here that there are no fabulous "twin" gifts.  We needed the stuff off of our registry because it saves us $$!  Batteries is also always a popular suggestion, although I'm sure you don't want to do that (I woudln't!).

  • food was the best thing we got :) doesn't have to be home cooked- just get a gift cert to a place that delivers near her!

batteries and diapers & wipes  = a great thing to have a lot of :)

there are tons of cute baby things you can get- but every twin mom is different about what they think is great... some like matching things, some don't, etc.

and then the regular best "baby" items x2 are great for twins... miracle blankets, aden & anais muslin blankets (we have 8 of them and LOVE them still)... and anything on her registry.

    congrats, auntie!

  • Well my first suggestion was going to be meals since finding time to cook with two newborns is close to impossible, but that's not your thing so....

Yeah I don't know.  Stuff off her registry, or practical things that she might not have realized she needed?  I can honestly say that I preferred practical things that I NEEDED to cutesy keepsake type gifts.  Twins are expensive, and while I appreciated the thought behind every gift I got, I'm not going to lie and say that they all were appreciated equally.  Most of the cutesy stuff went into the closet until it would be needed.  20 months later, most of it is still boxed up in the closet.  I couldn't even tell you who half of that stuff came from anymore, whereas I don't think I'll ever forget who brought us food the first few weeks, or gave us boxes of diapers and other necessities.

  • A cleaning service? Night nurse for a few weeks?

  • If you're looking for a gift that lasts...My aunt gave me 2 silver frames w/their 1st names engraved on it.  I love them!

P.S. Love your niece's name...we thought about using Claire & Chloe for our DDs :-)

  • I'm very big into photography and capturing lots of memories... so I'd say a certificate to have newborn photos of the twins!  It is an expense the new parents may not want to splurge on, but would prob treasure forever.

    Cleaning service is always great!

  • ear plugs or noise cancelling headphones

ok really, food/casserole types that can be reheated easily.

My favorite girls pitched in and got me nanny services (once a week she comes to give me a break and be able to run out for errands without dragging the two (or 3) along.

  • A cleaning service!  SERIOUSLY!  I would LOVE that!   Even if it was just one time, someone to come over and deep clean the whole house for her.  Just after having babies you can't physcially do it all and with twins she certainly doesn't have the time or energy!  I would be forever grateful for a gift like that.

Also, I agree with the others, send food or gift cards!   I was most appreciative for food after I had DS, I can't even imagine after the twins are born!

  • Wow - the cleaning service would've been a fantastic gift for us.  Actually, we could still use that.

My FAVORITE gifts were diapers and meals or even gift cards to restaurants where we could get take out.  There was no time to cook and diapers are ALWAYS needed.  Congrats Auntie :)

  • I agree with pp's that at this point, something practical will help the most, as she is most likely overwhelmed and exhausted. A cleaning service is a fabulous idea, or meals, diapers, swaddling blankets (SwaddleMes and Miracle Blankets are wonderful inventions!) ... beyond that, it really depends on what she already has and what her preferences are. Or hire a baby-sitter and take her out for a mani/pedi; I would've loved a little break like that when my boys were newborns to feel a little more like myself again.

  • GIFT CARDS!  I'm with you....how many casseroles does one need?  we love gift cards to our favorite restaurants/for take out.

also....the last thing I want to see is anymore "newborn" anything.  Or stuff ppl get and do not leave a gift receipt with.  I can;t tell you how many brand new items I have donated to our local Church.  These items are newborn, and the girls, although born preemie, and too large for the outfits.  I truly don't mean to sound snotty, but when it's a brand you've never heard of...there is no way of knowing where to exchange it.  Plus, any new twin mom doesn't have the TIME to exchange stuff.

I second the post that said GOOD blankets.  even smooth ones, that are beautiful and fluffy...maybe monogram them?

Diapers and wipes and always needed, and again don't mean to sound snotty, but find out the kinds she uses.  I got huggies.... again, didn't fit the girls...and off to Church donation closet they went.  I use the pampers because they don't irriate the girls, the hospital used them, and I like the blue indicator line on them.

on to a special gift.  A gift card for a good Doula service....they can come in just a few hours a day.... maybe 2 times a week, and help her make up bottles, do some laundry, give her time to rest.  Or a massage/pedicure gift card somewhere...she may want to use this before the holidays,

Silver picture frame....classic, and she will enjoy for years.

not sure of price range, but a couple got us Tiffany's bracelets for the girls.  Even the sliver cup they sell you can monogram.

  • My favorite gifts were diapers, formula, and daycare money. :o)

But I also agree that something simple for her would be sweet.  I have a hand-stamped "S&L" pendent that I adore.

  • A basket of healthy snacks (granola bars, peanuts, dried fruit, trail mix, popcorn) for her to have something to grab quickly while she's going to be a busy mama!
  • Oh, and one of the most precious gifts I got from my husband was a necklace with 3 disc charms that each had an initials of my 3 children engraved on them.....it is by Helen Ficara.......
